On the afternoon of November 11, speaking with VietNamNet reporter , Mr. Lo Van Thiep, Principal of Con Cuong Ethnic Boarding Secondary School (Con Cuong commune, Nghe An province) said that the school had just allowed nearly 400 students to stay home from school to prevent the A flu epidemic.
According to the school leaders, more than a week ago, some students at this school showed symptoms of headaches and high fevers, but they all thought it was a common cold so they just took medicine. After a few days, the number of students showing similar symptoms increased rapidly.
Students with influenza A have symptoms such as red eyes, watery eyes, headache, high fever, vomiting...

Based on preliminary information, more than 160 students of the school have contracted influenza A. The outbreak has spread rapidly, so the school has coordinated with Con Cuong Medical Center to disinfect the entire campus, dormitory, dining hall and communal living area. All students are allowed to stay home for treatment and health monitoring.
“The influenza A epidemic is spreading rapidly, so we have suspended all 388 students in the school. We are asking homeroom teachers to monitor the situation. Students who are absent from school will be given make-up classes once their health is stable,” said Mr. Thiep.
According to Mr. Thiep, students at the school have been absent for two days now (November 10 and 11). The school has not yet set a date for students to return to school. "This Friday, if the students' health is stable, the school will notify students to return to school to study," Mr. Thiep informed.
