On the morning of November 14, Tuoi Tre newspaper and Nguyen Tat Thanh University summarized nearly 2 years of cooperation in training practical courses for full-time university students at the editorial office.
Breathe fresh life into the learning atmosphere
From the beginning of 2024, the two sides will begin to research and establish a cooperation model, in which the core is that Tuoi Tre newspaper will train 100% practical courses for students of the Faculty of Creative Communication, Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
Bringing the newsroom into the classroom: A breakthrough in modern Journalism and Media training
By June 2024, the first students came to study at Tuoi Tre newspaper. To date, more than 1,400 students have completed their courses, nearly 600 students of the 5th course of the cooperation program are studying subjects: photographic art skills, organizing photos on media products, image processing techniques, producing electronic media products, and designing media publications.
Tuoi Tre Newspaper also received 30 students from the Faculty of Creative Communication for internship. The result: many students had excellent and good graduation theses, including students who after internship became collaborators working at the Digital Content Development Center of Tuoi Tre newspaper.
Evaluating the results and quality of training, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Quang Hao - Head of the Faculty of Creative Communication, Nguyen Tat Thanh University - affirmed that after 4 semesters, more than 1,400 students had received 100% practical training at Tuoi Tre newspaper.
The space, time, number of students and teaching of Tuoi Tre newspaper are not only to implement the cooperation model but also to spread strongly in the professional field of media training. Many other universities and press units also implement this model. That proves that the model has positive energy and effectiveness.

Mr. Hao also commented that the direct media training method at a prestigious newspaper office like Tuoi Tre has breathed new life into the learning atmosphere of media students. Normally, in the first year, students are trained in general subjects, then get acquainted with the press agency with the internship model, and in the third and fourth years, they do internships but mainly still have to struggle to find jobs on their own, with lackluster results.
"With this model, students start early in a professional, interesting, and new working environment with the guidance of prestigious and experienced journalists. As a result, students are very confident, feel the profession right before their eyes, and arouse their passion for learning. Students are not only taught specific thinking and professional skills, but also take advantage of and use professional equipment that is not easily available at university," Mr. Hao affirmed.
To achieve these results, journalist Bui Tien Dung - Editorial Secretary, Director of Tuoi Tre Training Center and Head of Education - Youth Department - said that this is the first time the newspaper has provided formal practical training for students, so the newspaper must strictly comply with university training regulations, not allowing any errors related to academic matters to occur.
Not only that, the newspaper also has serious preparations in terms of facilities and staff to meet the standards of university lecturers as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training . Lecturers are experienced managers, editors, and reporters. When starting this program, the newspaper sent 20 people to study for a certificate in university teaching pedagogy. Currently, the newspaper's teaching staff has more than 40 masters.

When students learn for real, do for real
As a lecturer, journalist Nguyen Truong Uy - Deputy General Secretary of Tuoi Tre Newspaper - said that when implementing the training, there were many concerns from both sides but the current results are really good. We are on the right track and doing well. This is a new and strong wind in media training.
"The pressure to always innovate and do better is the pressure for Tuoi Tre newspaper. We are not professional lecturers but journalists, who hold students' hands and give them practical experience. Students like practicality, have products and receive detailed comments from lecturers on their products.
Students learn for real, work for real. In addition to increasing the amount of time for outside practice, in the coming time, we will also increase the time for digital media training for students. The greatest achievement is that both sides will train media human resources for society" - Mr. Uy added.
