In the eastern part of Ho Chi Minh City, the atmosphere is more bustling than ever. With a total fruit tree area of over 12,500 hectares, farmers have dedicated approximately 70% of the land to production to meet Tet (Lunar New Year) demand. Major fruit varieties such as dragon fruit, pomelo, mango, and papaya are expected to supply the market with over 20,000 tons of produce.

Farmers in Ho Chi Minh City are busy tending to their orchards to ensure a ready supply for the Lunar New Year (Tet) in 2026.
In Tam Long ward, Ms. Le Thi Hong Thao said that every year her family proactively manages their papaya orchard to ensure a harvest during the peak season. She expects her orchard to supply about 5 tons of fruit this Tet (Lunar New Year). Many traders are currently inspecting the orchard to place deposits for Tet orders. With prices nearly double during this period, they hope for stable prices so that farmers can celebrate Tet with joy.
Similarly, in Xuyen Moc commune, dragon fruit growers are focusing their efforts on inducing off-season flowering and fruiting. With current prices ranging from 20,000 to 25,000 VND/kg, farmers are enjoying a good profit margin. Mr. Nguyen Chi Vinh, a local resident, shared: "This crop is the main focus for the Tet holiday season. Everyone is looking forward to this harvest to earn extra income and have a more fulfilling Tet celebration."
Despite the enormous market potential, this year's harvest also faces numerous challenges. According to our reporter's observations, the erratic weather in recent times has directly affected crop growth. To overcome this, farmers are focusing all their resources on care, hoping for a favorable season in terms of both yield and price.

Red-fleshed dragon fruit is being processed out of season to meet the increased demand for display and consumption during the year-end holiday season.
A positive sign for the 2026 Tet fruit season is the very promising market signal. Currently, traders have begun visiting orchards to survey and place orders in advance. This is a crucial motivation for farmers to continue cultivating their orchards, maintaining sustainable production, and affirming the position of Ho Chi Minh City's agricultural products during the traditional Tet holiday.
