The competition involved 3,579 candidates, distributed across 185 examination rooms in 10 clusters throughout the province. Candidates took exams in the following subjects: Mathematics, Natural Sciences 1, 2, and 3; Informatics; Literature; History and Geography 1 and 2; and English. Mathematics and Literature were essay-based exams; Informatics involved computer programming; and the remaining subjects combined multiple-choice and essay questions. The exam duration was 150 minutes. The exam content was within the scope of the General Education Program issued by the Ministry of Education and Training , ensuring adherence to the exam structure, matrix, and training program framework as stipulated by the Department of Education and Training.
To ensure favorable conditions for organizing the exam, the Department of Education and Training established 10 examination clusters by merging communes and wards that are geographically close to each other; each cluster selected one secondary school or combined secondary school as an examination site, creating favorable conditions for candidates to participate in the exam.
The cluster-level preliminary round is a crucial step in the process of organizing the provincial-level selection exam for gifted 9th-grade secondary school students. It contributes to identifying and selecting talented students, while also evaluating the effectiveness of gifted student training programs in educational institutions. Following this round, high-achieving students from each cluster will be selected to participate in the provincial-level competition, which will take place in the near future.
