Local people and forest rangers work together to inspect and monitor forests that have been granted sustainable forest management certification.
According to the Forestry and Forest Protection Department, the area of certified forests is mainly concentrated in localities with strengths in forestry. The expansion of certified forest area has contributed to changing the production mindset of forest growers, from small-scale exploitation to forest management according to scientific procedures, adhering to strict environmental, social, and economic criteria.
Forests certified for sustainable management not only help protect resources and minimize negative impacts on the ecological environment, but also create conditions for the province's wood products to participate more deeply in domestic and international supply chains.
Many wood processing businesses prioritize the use of certified raw materials, thereby increasing product value and income for forest growers.
To achieve these results, the Provincial Forestry and Forest Protection Department has intensified propaganda and guidance for forest owners to apply sustainable forest management processes; strengthened linkages between wood processing enterprises and forest-planting households and cooperatives...
In the coming period, the province has identified sustainable forest management as a key solution in forestry development. Accordingly, it will continue to review and expand the area of concentrated planted forests that meet the criteria for certification; replicate models of production-consumption linkages for certified timber; and strengthen the application of science and technology in planting, caring for, and harvesting forests, thereby contributing to the effective development of the forestry economy, environmental protection, and improved livelihoods for the people.
