Speaking at the program, Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, said that although the war ended more than 50 years ago, the consequences of chemical toxins are still persistent and long-lasting, with millions of people infected with chemical toxins during the war, and hundreds of thousands still suffering physical pain due to Agent Orange.

According to Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh, the activities commemorating the 65th anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster this year are not only aimed at remembering and paying tribute, but also represent "a call of conscience," a responsibility of the community both domestically and internationally towards the victims of Agent Orange in Vietnam. The Association has chosen the theme "65 Years - From Disaster to a Journey of Joint Efforts to Alleviate the Pain of Agent Orange" as the overarching message for its activities in 2026.

On this occasion, the Association will organize the 5th Congress of Outstanding Exemplars for Victims of Agent Orange, covering the period 2026-2031, and prepare for the 6th Congress, also for the term 2026-2031, focusing on strengthening the Association's organization, innovating methods of mobilizing social resources, creating sustainable livelihoods for victims, and promoting international relations for victims of Agent Orange.

According to Major General Do Hong Lam, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, the Association at all levels nationwide will intensify propaganda about the consequences of chemical toxins; and at the same time, mobilize domestic and international resources to care for victims in difficult circumstances, severely affected victims, and those being cared for at social welfare centers.

Notably, the Central Committee of the Association plans to organize the "Journey to Justice" Agent Orange Exhibition in Da Nang in 2026, opening on July 22nd and lasting for one month. The exhibition will display more than 400 images, documents, and artifacts about the Agent Orange disaster, the work of overcoming its consequences, the struggle for justice for the victims, and activities supporting Agent Orange victims.

Alongside awareness campaigns, the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, in collaboration with the charitable platforms of the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank, TikTok Vietnam, the Vietnam Digital Media Association, and Tops Media Company, is launching the online running event "Walking with Compassion" on the Topplay platform to raise funds to support Agent Orange victims. All funds raised from the program will be used to support Agent Orange victims in difficult circumstances.

At the event, the Central Committee of the Association officially launched a fundraising campaign to support victims of Agent Orange through account 1961 of the Vietnam Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims Fund at the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank. According to the organizers, at the launch ceremony, the total amount of donations pledged by organizations and philanthropists reached over 1 billion VND.

In 2025, the Vietnam Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims Fund raised over 9.3 billion VND. Of this amount, over 1.74 billion VND, accounting for nearly 20% of the total fundraising for the year, was raised through the charitable application of the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank and account 1961.

The funds raised have been used to support the construction of houses for victims; provide Tet gifts and support for the August 10th Children's Day; support victims affected by storms and floods; provide wheelchairs; support livelihoods; and care for victims at social welfare centers. The total support funds for 2025 reached over 10.3 billion VND.

According to the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, in 2026, the Association will continue to coordinate with media outlets, digital platforms, and related organizations to implement a campaign to support Agent Orange victims, focusing on providing medical treatment, rehabilitation, livelihood support, and house repair and construction for victims in difficult circumstances, with the spirit of "leaving no one behind".
