Ly Thai To Park No. 1 creates a "green oasis" in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City's megacity.

Over 90 days and nights of rapid construction resulted in a new iconic landmark for Ho Chi Minh City.

The park was inaugurated on the evening of February 12th amidst an exceptionally tight schedule, aiming to be ready for public use during the Lunar New Year – a time when Vietnamese people turn to their roots, express gratitude, and commemorate. The construction site operated continuously in three shifts with four teams; at peak times, more than 500 engineers and workers worked day and night.

Despite the difficulties in mobilizing manpower and equipment during the Tet holiday season, the contractor maintained continuous construction activity. Three stone processing plants operated for 40 days straight, extracting over 2,500 m³ of raw stone and producing 1,350 m³ of finished products for construction on an area of over 23,000 m².

The team also had to race against time to gather enough high-grade 30mm thick Indian granite – a rare material on the market where 20mm thickness is common. Simultaneously, 25 artisans from Non Nuoc - Ngu Hanh Son stone carving village, along with 30 machine operators, worked continuously in three shifts for 30 days to craft the exquisite stone details, ensuring the traditional handcrafted value and high aesthetic quality.

Meaningful quotes are displayed within the grounds of Ly Thai To Park No. 1.

Completing the project in just over 90 days not only demonstrates the organizational capacity and strong determination of Ho Chi Minh City and Sun Group, but also represents a heartfelt effort: to provide people with a space to express gratitude at the end of the year and usher in a new spring with faith and bright hope for the future.

The centerpiece of the park is the square featuring the Water Drop Monument, made of mirrored stainless steel.

The centerpiece of the park is the "Water Drop" Monument, 6 meters high and 13 meters in circumference, situated in the middle of a 1,800 square meter circular square. The image of the water droplet touching the ground creates a hollow space, like a "memory pit," recalling the losses the city experienced during the pandemic. From this central point, the surrounding rings radiate outwards, symbolizing the resurgence of a compassionate city – where pain is transformed into love, unity, and aspiration for progress.

Inside the teardrop is the image of a heart – a symbol of affection and gratitude. The mirrored stainless steel surface reflects the silhouettes of people standing around it, as if to convey the message that this memory is a shared memory. The city has weathered the challenges together, and it is this unity that has created the energy to continue moving forward.

The heart-shaped teardrop monument carries many symbolic meanings.

The entire park is planned to be multi-functional, preserving the existing greenery and renovating old buildings into spaces for exhibitions, libraries, and cultural and artistic activities. On the occasion of its inauguration, the more than 4-hectare area was transformed into a spring flower festival with tens of thousands of trees and potted flowers, becoming a new destination for people in the early days of the Year of the Horse.

Commenting on the project, Dr. Tran Hoang Ngan - a National Assembly representative from Ho Chi Minh City - remarked that this is not just a new park, but "a place where everyone wants to immerse themselves to reflect on life and find new energy." According to him, it is very rare for a public project to receive such widespread consensus and empathy from the community upon its announcement.

He argued that converting a prime piece of land in the city center into a park instead of for commercial use was highly significant: “The land could be used for many different purposes. But choosing to turn it into a park – a symbolic project that acknowledges the collective effort and solidarity of the people in overcoming the pandemic – is a decision that resonates with the people.”

From the Tam Thang Tower to the "water drop" monument - humanistic symbols shaping the urban landscape.

Prior to Ly Thai To Park No. 1, the Tam Thang Tower in Vung Tau is also a meaningful social project that Sun Group donated to Ho Chi Minh City, with a total investment of 155 billion VND, completed in just 75 days and nights.

The tower comprises 143 pillars ranging in height from 4.55m to over 34.25m, arranged in increasing order towards the sea, inspired by the image of three powerful ships sailing out to sea, recreating the story of the three villages of Thang Nhat, Thang Nhi, and Thang Tam associated with the mission of protecting the sea and islands since the time of King Gia Long. Tam Thang Square is designed as a multi-functional community space in the Bai Sau area, with the 3.6m high Vong Canh Cape offering panoramic views of the coastal city.

The Tam Thang Tower and the "Water Drop" Monument are humanistic symbols that shape the urban landscape of Ho Chi Minh City.

The meeting point between the Three Victory Tower and the "Water Drop" Monument lies in the creative vision of establishing central symbols for each space. One structure soars high above the sea and sky, the other stands deep within the urban landscape – yet both share a common value: conveying history, memories, and aspirations for development.

A representative from Sun Group stated: "In its journey towards becoming a modern and distinctive metropolis, Ho Chi Minh City chooses to place people and quality of life at its core. Therefore, Ly Thai To Park No. 1 is not just a landscape project, but also a testament to the collaboration between the government and private enterprises in creating sustainable social values. For Sun Group, this is a gift of gratitude to the city named after President Ho Chi Minh, and a commitment to community development wherever the Group operates."
