This new generation 2026 CR-V mid-size SUV was introduced by Honda at the Japan Mobility Show, with plans to take orders from mid-December 2025 and deliver cars to customers in February 2026. Notably, the new CR-V in Japan is distributed with two hybrid e:HEV versions, including the standard RS version and the high-end RS Black Edition. While many other markets such as the US offer many options, including off-road versions like the TrailSport, in Japan, Honda chooses a simpler and more streamlined approach.
Both versions are equipped with a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 2.0L gasoline engine combined with two electric motors and an E-CVT gearbox. Front-wheel drive is standard on the RS version, while customers can choose full-time four-wheel drive. The Black Edition version is equipped with AWD drive system. Honda has not announced specific parameters in Japan, but in Europe, this hybrid system produces a total capacity of about 181 horsepower, bringing significant fuel efficiency while ensuring enough power for many operating conditions. In terms of design and equipment, the standard RS version has a series of modern amenities such as a 9-inch entertainment screen, a 10.2-inch digital clock cluster, a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, wireless charging, a hands-free electric trunk, heated seats and the Honda Sensing driver assistance system.
Meanwhile, the Honda CR-V 2026 RS Black Edition impresses with a sportier and more personal appearance thanks to Crystal Black trim details, 19-inch dark-painted alloy wheels, a black roof and Piano Black interior accents. This version is also equipped with a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, a HUD display and especially the Honda Sensing 360 advanced safety package - integrated radar and wide-angle camera to help enhance collision avoidance and lane change support on the highway. Not stopping there, Honda Japan also allows customers to personalize the new CR-V model with two optional accessory packages. The Tough Premium package, exclusively for the Black Edition, adds Luna Silver bumper details, Crystal Black painted spoiler and dark logos for a strong highlight. Meanwhile, the Urban Premium package for the RS version brings similar details but in a darker tone, matching the overall design of the standard version. Honda also plans to expand the list of genuine accessories in the near future, including decorative panels, windshields and other exterior details.
The Honda CR-V e:HEV RS starts at 5,122,700 yen (about $33,100). The RS Black Edition with AWD starts at 5,779,400 yen (about $37,400). Notably, Honda is also distributing a limited number of the CR-V e:FCEV version - a model using hydrogen fuel cell technology combined with electric charging capability (plug-in hybrid), with a starting price of 8,094,900 yen, equivalent (about 52,300 USD).
