Attending the meeting were Dr. Doan Thi Thuy Linh, Head of the HIV and Chronic Infectious Disease Control Department - Department of Disease Prevention, Dr. Tran Thanh Tung - Deputy Director of Ca Mau Provincial CDC, MSc. Dr. Duong Minh Tung - Deputy Director of Ca Mau Provincial Social Insurance, experts from the US CDC Office in Vietnam, EPIC Project staff - Ministry of Health , and staff in charge from HIV/AIDS Outpatient Clinics and Treatment Centers, and laboratory staff in the province.
Here , delegates focused on discussing many contents, including: The importance, registration process, principles and procedures for implementing the conversion of payment forms for confirmatory testing through health insurance sources as well as the implementation plan for converting payment sources at the local level; updating new instructions and decisions related to the organization, personnel arrangement and HIV/AIDS prevention and control tasks after the merger of the grassroots health system; survey results of the current status of implementing screening and confirmatory testing and orientation for upcoming activities at the local level.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Tran Thanh Tung - Deputy Director of Ca Mau Provincial CDC emphasized: "Converting the form of payment for HIV confirmation testing to the health insurance source is an inevitable, strategic and long-term requirement. This not only ensures the sustainability of HIV testing services, reduces dependence on aid sources, but also helps patients access services fairly, continuously, and with the right benefits according to regulations. This is also an important preparation step for localities to be more proactive in HIV/AIDS prevention and control when international support sources are gradually decreasing."
This is also an opportunity for units to exchange and discuss difficulties and obstacles in implementation at the facility. Thereby, agreeing on necessary solutions to improve the effectiveness of HIV testing services in the future.
