The new Xuong Giang bridge project was started in February 2025 with a total investment of more than 170 billion VND from the state budget. The project has a total length of nearly 1 km, of which the bridge is more than 301 m long, the rest is the approach road; the starting point is at km 117+440, the end point is about km 118+400 in Bac Giang ward.

The Railway Project Management Board ( Ministry of Construction ) is the investor. Xuong Giang Bridge belongs to the project of upgrading and expanding a number of bridges and tunnels on National Highway 1 in a number of provinces. According to the design, the bridge is a new unit, 16.5 m wide, including 3 lanes for motor vehicles; the road section at both ends of the bridge has a 33 m wide foundation including 4 lanes for motor vehicles.
Mr. Mai Xuan Tan, Director of several bridge and tunnel projects on Highway 1, said that up to now, the new Xuong Giang Bridge project is still being constructed on schedule, reaching about 90% of the workload. The bridge is expected to be technically opened to traffic on December 19 as planned. At the construction site, there are always nearly 200 workers and engineers working in 3 shifts, 4 teams continuously, working through the night and during holidays.

The unit is continuing to urge the contractor to speed up the construction progress of the remaining items of the project such as: Rolling the approach roads at both ends of the bridge, installing guardrails, paving the bridge deck, striving for technical traffic opening on December 19, 2025.
The completion of the new Xuong Giang bridge will double the traffic capacity, reduce pressure on the existing bridge, thereby helping people travel conveniently and safely. At the same time, it will shorten the travel time between the central area and industrial zones, promote the circulation of goods, and create conditions to attract investors to industrial zones and clusters in the province. The project creates a new traffic axis, serving urban and industrial development, contributing to improving the logistics capacity of Bac Ninh province in the period of 2025 - 2035.
