Dong Tien Agricultural Mechanization Service Cooperative is a typical cooperative in 2024 of Thanh Hoa

Mr. Tran Binh Quan, member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Thanh Hoa province, said that the Thanh Hoa Farmers' Association has just coordinated with departments and branches to organize a vote to select Dong Tien Agricultural Mechanization Service Cooperative (Dong Son district, Thanh Hoa province) as a typical cooperative of the province in 2024.

Thanh Hoa Farmers' Association has just coordinated with the Department of Planning and Investment; Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Department of Industry and Trade and Thanh Hoa Cooperative Union to organize the Council for selecting typical national cooperatives in 2024 in this province.

According to Mr. Tran Binh Quan, cooperatives are a solid foundation for building and developing sustainable commodity value chains. Through cooperatives, members and farmers have linked together to promote economic advantages in terms of scale and production efficiency, along with reducing production costs, bringing high value and profit. Therefore, it is necessary to promptly detect and commend cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector with good quality and high efficiency to create a spread and attract many members and farmers to participate in developing collective economy and cooperatives in agriculture.

According to the report of the Thanh Hoa Outstanding Cooperative Selection Council in 2024, Dong Tien Agricultural Mechanization Service Cooperative (Dong Son District) was established in September 2012, with the main production and business activities being the production and consumption of vegetables, tubers, fruits and flowers. With the initial number of members being 7, the capital was 1.2 billion VND contributed by the members of the cooperative. Up to now, the total number of members of the cooperative has increased to 21, with a charter capital of 5 billion VND.

In 2018, the cooperative produced vegetables and fruits, built 11 greenhouses to produce various vegetables, tomatoes, melons, baby cucumbers, etc. Applying science and technology to build a value chain model for production and consumption of organic vegetables, tubers, fruits, and flowers. On average, the cooperative sold 120 tons of vegetables and fruits to the market each year, mainly in Thanh Hoa, Hanoi and some neighboring provinces such as Ninh Binh, Hai Phong, Nghe An, etc. Opened 3 clean food stores in Dong Son district.

By 2019, the cooperative expanded its production model by adding 4,500m² of greenhouses with 4 greenhouses to produce organic vegetables, tubers and fruits, and contracted an additional 30ha of fields. Linked production and consumption of queen melon with 5 cooperatives in Thanh Hoa province.

In 2024, the Cooperative put into production Phalaenopsis orchids with an area of 2,000m² with a capacity of 40,000 Phalaenopsis orchids, of which 500m² are controlled to bloom on site to serve the upcoming Lunar New Year.

To serve local farmers as well as those in and outside Thanh Hoa province, the cooperative has invested in 15 greenhouses for the production of vegetables, tubers and fruits with an area of 2 production areas of nearly 37,000m²; the cooperative has also invested in a number of machines such as: 4 straw rolling machines worth 400 million VND/machine; 1 combine harvester; 1 seedling sowing machine and 2 transplanters, 2 plows. In addition, the cooperative also has an office, warehouse and product showroom of 200m²; creating on-site jobs for 10 regular workers and 15 seasonal workers with an average salary of 5.5 million VND/person/month.

Currently, Dong Tien Agricultural Mechanization Service Cooperative is growing 2,000m² of Phalaenopsis orchids.

Revenue in recent years is respectively: 2021 and 2022 is 24.5 billion VND, profit after deducting expenses is 2.5 billion VND. In 2023 revenue is 13 billion VND, profit after deducting expenses is 2 billion VND. In 2024 estimated revenue is 15.05 billion, profit is 2.35 billion.

From 2013 to 2023, Dong Tien Agricultural Mechanization Service Cooperative has achieved many encouraging achievements, receiving 1 Certificate of Recognition from the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance; 3 Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee; 5 Certificates of Merit from the Executive Committee of Thanh Hoa Provincial Cooperative Alliance and many Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of Dong Son District People's Committee, Chairman of Dong Tien Commune People's Committee...

Based on the participation records and actual production and business, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Outstanding Cooperative Selection Council has selected Dong Tien Agricultural Mechanization Service Cooperative to propose the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union to honor the nationwide Outstanding Cooperative in 2024, along with the Ceremony to honor and award the title of "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer" in 2024, scheduled to be held in October 2024 in Hanoi.
