Huawei claims that despite using the same chip, the Mate 80 still has a 35% performance increase compared to the Mate 70. Notably, the Kirin 9030 chip in the Mate 80 Pro also delivers similar performance compared to last year's Mate 70 Pro. The Mate 80 Pro version also has a Kirin 9030 Pro option with a 16GB RAM configuration that promises 42% faster performance than its predecessor launched last year.
Both the Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro support Tiantong satellite calling and Beidou two-way messaging, and are the first devices to be able to make emergency calls at 700 MHz even when there is no network. Huawei says the devices can maintain a connection at a distance of up to 13 km and transmit signals through three walls. Additionally, the Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro are equipped with Bluetooth 6.0, 2.4 GHz offline communication, and Wi-Fi 7+.
Mate 80 series makes a strong impression from design to camera

For the camera, the Mate 80 series uses the second-generation "Maple Leaf" primary color imaging system. The Mate 80 includes a 50MP main camera, a 12MP periscope telephoto camera, a 40MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP selfie camera. Meanwhile, the Mate 80 Pro is equipped with a 50MP main camera, a 48MP macro telephoto camera, and a 40MP ultra-wide camera, combined with a 9th-generation ISP for twice the image processing speed.
Both models have a 5,750 mAh battery, supporting fast charging (wired) up to 66W for Mate 80 and 100W for Mate 80 Pro. Wireless charging capabilities reach 50W and 80W respectively, while Mate 80 Pro also supports reverse wireless charging and super battery saving mode lasting up to 13 days.
