Hue: 9 people hospitalized after death anniversary meal, suspected of food poisoning

On the morning of July 20, Hue Central Hospital, Branch 2, received 9 patients suspected of food poisoning after attending a funeral in Phong Dinh Ward, Hue City. The patients were between 54 and 84 years old, both male and female, and all residing in the locality.

Patients are being treated at Hue Central Hospital, branch 2.

Initial information said that at noon on July 19, this group of people had a memorial meal with dishes provided by a local restaurant. By dawn on July 20, many people began to show symptoms of stomach pain and nausea and were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment, the first person admitted at 5:35 am.

After examination, the doctor diagnosed all 9 people with acute gastroenteritis due to food poisoning. The most severe case is Ms. NTL (born in 1941), currently being monitored in the Intensive Care Unit in a state of slow contact, with intermittent abdominal pain. The health of the remaining patients is basically stable.

The hospital said it has activated the food poisoning treatment process, classified treatment according to severity and is ready to apply advanced techniques when necessary.

Mr. Trinh Duc Nhu, Chairman of Phong Dinh Ward People's Committee confirmed the incident and said that the locality is coordinating to collect food samples and investigate the cause.
