Hue announces National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025

NDO - On January 1, at Ngo Mon Square - Hue Imperial City, the People's Committee of Hue City held the Announcement Ceremony of the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025. The Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City Nguyen Van Phuong; Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City Nguyen Thanh Binh, along with leaders of departments, branches, and a large number of people and tourists coming to Hue.

With the theme “ Hue - Ancient Capital, New Opportunities”, the National Tourism Year 2025 aims to strengthen connections and create momentum for tourism development between Hue city and other provinces and cities; at the same time, contribute to enhancing the image, position and brand of Vietnamese tourism in general and Hue city in particular.

In addition, the event is expected to be a very important boost to help Hue city's socio -economic development, creating conditions to attract resources for investment in development and building new and attractive products in the locality in the coming time.

Hue City organizes the Announcement Ceremony of National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025.

Hue City expects to attract about 4.8-5 million tourists in the National Tourism Year 2025, of which international visitors account for 38-40%; total revenue from tourism will reach about 10,800-11,200 billion VND. At the same time, creating a breakthrough for Hue tourism in 2025, ready to develop strongly on the foundation of the ancient capital with a new opportunity in a new era of the country.

Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center Hoang Viet Trung said that this is the second year Hue has hosted the National Tourism Year, a typical cultural, economic, social and tourism event of national and international scale combined with the Hue Festival 2025, associated with the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Hue city (March 26, 1975 - March 26, 2025) and responding to and welcoming Hue becoming a centrally-run city.

According to Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, the activities organized within the framework of the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 focus on 4 main program groups. Including the Spring Festival: "Spring of the Ancient Capital", Summer Festival: "Shining Imperial City", Autumn Festival: "Hue in Autumn", Winter Festival: "Winter of Hue" with more than 170 national and provincial events.

Of which, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and central agencies organized 8 national-level activities; Hue city hosted 62 activities (including 46 activities of the National Tourism Year program and 16 activities within the framework of Hue Festival 2025) and provinces and centrally-run cities organized 102 activities in response to National Tourism Year - Hue 2025.

The Nguyen Dynasty's New Year's Eve Ceremony at the Thai Hoa Palace's Grand Courtyard was recreated in a theatrical form.

Mr. Hoang Viet Trung said that each festival season associated with the National Tourism Year has its own theme, showing the diversity and richness of cultural colors, demonstrating the rise of an ancient capital - a centrally-run city today blending into new opportunities.

At the Spring Festival: “Spring of the Ancient Capital” with a series of royal festivals, traditional festivals, unique Tet cultural spaces and spring entertainment activities bearing the imprint of the ancient Hue Capital. Highlights are the 1st Ancient Capital Martial Arts Festival, the Art Program Opening the National Tourism Year and the Event celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hue Liberation…

For the Summer Festival: “Shining Imperial City” takes place from April to June with the highlight being the Ao Dai Art Program and the Community Ao Dai Week. The Autumn Festival: “Hue in Autumn” takes place from July to September with the highlight being the Mid-Autumn Festival program.

At the announcement ceremony, the Organizing Committee gave calendars and books to tourists and locals who visited on New Year's Day.

From October to December is the time of the Winter Festival: "Winter of Hue", including new programs to create a vibrant and warm winter atmosphere in Hue; at the same time, creating forms of entertainment for tourists to enjoy during their stay in the ancient capital of Hue. The highlight is the Closing Ceremony of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 and the International Music Festival; Countdown Art Program - Welcoming the New Year 2025.

Among the above activities, there will be 4 key activities, including the Opening Ceremony of "National Tourism Year - Hue 2025" combined with the Fireworks Art Program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hue City Liberation Day taking place on the evening of March 25; International Conference on Cultural Industries - the foundation for sustainable tourism development on March 25; Cultural-Tourism Festival and Program to introduce tourism, cuisine, Vietnamese craft villages, connecting businesses on the occasion of National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 in the European market scheduled for June 2025 and the Closing Ceremony of "National Tourism Year - Hue 2025" at the end of December 2025.

Immediately after the announcement ceremony, the opening event for the Hue National Tourism Year was the Nguyen Dynasty's Lunar New Year Court Ceremony at the Thai Hoa Palace, which was recreated in a theatrical form, bringing to the people and visitors a very special experience and emotion about Hue's cultural heritage.

After the announcement ceremony, tourists will visit the Hue Monuments Complex during the New Year 2025.

On this occasion, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center also opened its doors for free to visitors to visit the Hue Monuments Complex, and enjoy a theatrical reenactment of the Lunar New Year's Eve Ceremony on the first day of the new year.

The series of activities and events held during the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 are expected to create a breakthrough for Hue tourism in 2025, ready to develop strongly on the foundation of the ancient capital with a new opportunity in a new era of the country.
