Hue City has painted part of the sidewalks of many streets in the new urban area of An Van Duong green for cyclists, becoming the first city in Vietnam to implement this idea.
After completing the investment in upgrading and beautifying Vo Nguyen Giap, To Huu, and the internal park of the provincial administrative center (part of the green urban project), the Thua Thien Hue Province Green Urban Project Management Board has painted part of the sidewalks of these routes to create space for cyclists.
Depending on the width of each sidewalk section, the investor will paint 1 or 2 paths. This path is painted green, bordered with yellow, located inside the sidewalk.

Mr. Le Thanh Bac, Deputy Director of the Green Urban Project Management Board of Thua Thien Hue province, said that the unit has painted lanes reserved for bicycles on the sidewalks of several main roads in Hue city, mainly concentrated in the new urban area of An Van Duong, with a total length of nearly 8km.
Hue City became the first city in Vietnam to dedicate part of its sidewalk to bicycle lanes.
According to Dan Tri reporters, every morning and evening, there are many people in Hue city walking, exercising, and cycling on these routes.
"Walking on roads with wide, airy sidewalks, green trees and fields, gives me a very relaxing feeling," shared a person doing morning exercises on To Huu Street.
"Today I had to go to the Departmentof Education and Training to get some things. Passing by here, I saw the light, cool turquoise paint color. The area is not too big compared to the sidewalk," Ms. Duong Tra My (in Hue) shared on her personal page.

According to the leader of the Green Urban Project Management Board of Thua Thien Hue province, reserving a part of the sidewalk for bicycles aims to realize the province's determination to turn Thua Thien Hue into a green, environmentally friendly city.
It is known that in recent years, Thua Thien Hue province has focused many resources on developing green transportation, improving the environment, ensuring people and tourists travel safely, comfortably and conveniently by bicycle.
In addition to orienting the development of the public passenger transport system, Hue will develop bicycle transport as a green and safe form of transport, suitable for heritage conservation and landscape protection, aiming to build Hue into one of the first bicycle cities in Vietnam.
Hue outlines the types of bicycle network, such as: dedicated bicycle lanes, shared bicycle paths; landscape bicycle paths, priority roads for bicycles and pedestrians; bicycle highways.
Thua Thien Hue will separate and create priority lanes for bicycles on main roads, deploy many solutions to improve traffic safety, install priority traffic lights, increase the recognition of priority lanes for bicycles; arrange bicycle parking lots, bicycle racks, etc.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, affirmed that the province's policy is to invest in developing bicycle infrastructure to serve people and tourists, and at the same time expects to strongly develop bicycles in the city.
