Hung Yen aspires to become the new semiconductor center of the North

Vietnam is gradually becoming a strategic destination for technology corporations as the semiconductor industry plays the role of the “heart” of the global digital economy. On the northern industrial map, Hung Yen shows its aspiration to become a new center of the semiconductor industry.

Breakthrough in the key industry

The highlight of Hung Yen ’s development thinking is the proactive selection of fundamental sectors for the future. Instead of relying solely on traditional industries, the province has early focused on high technology, especially semiconductors – an industry that requires the most stringent infrastructure, technical and supply chain standards.

This move demonstrates the aspiration to elevate Hung Yen, making it not only a normal industrial growth pole but also a technology center with widespread influence in the region.

To realize that orientation, Hung Yen advocates developing large-scale, specialized industrial zones, ready to receive high-quality FDI capital. In particular, the appearance of some typical industrial zones such as Industrial Park No. 5, Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park, etc. shows a methodical and visionary planning mindset.

These zones not only meet the requirements of land fund and strategic traffic connection location, but also focus on high-tech ecosystem, aiming to attract leading semiconductor and electronics corporations. However, industrial zones are only part of the overall picture; more importantly, Hung Yen has chosen the right “strategic path” to improve its position on the industrial map.

First of all, it is an open policy system, selecting investors and putting technology and environment criteria first. This is a key factor that helps international corporations feel secure when deciding to invest, especially in a field that values ​​speed and stability like semiconductors.

Along with the policy is strong investment in infrastructure. Hung Yen has focused on building an inter-regional transport system, modernizing electricity, water, waste treatment and logistics infrastructure in key industrial zones.

The province has approved an economic zone of 30,583 hectares, including 22 industrial parks and industrial parks - urban - services with about 8,020 hectares. In addition, there are 43 industrial parks located outside the economic zone with a total area of ​​over 13,500 hectares, of which 18 industrial parks have been established with nearly 4,000 hectares. Many industrial parks are oriented specifically for high technology. The synchronization in this planning creates a rare competitive advantage, meeting the strict standards of global technology corporations.

In particular, Industrial Park No. 5 is emerging as a new destination for the semiconductor industry, attracting the project of Seojin System and Texon Co., Ltd (Korea) with an investment capital of 500 million USD, producing semiconductor components and equipment. This project not only has a large capital scale but also requires international standard technical infrastructure, thereby promoting the entire supporting industrial ecosystem.

At Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park ( Thai Binh Economic Zone), the Good Way Vietnam project with a capital of 45 million USD, a capacity of more than 3.7 million products/year, is being implemented according to the committed schedule, affirming the ability to attract and implement high-tech projects in the region. Lotes Vietnam - one of the leading enterprises in the field of manufacturing precision electronic components has also invested in a large-scale factory in this industrial park with a total registered capital of about 120 million USD, specializing in the production of RAM connectors, connecting cables and metal components for high-tech, semiconductor and electronic equipment.

In addition, projects such as Ohsung Vina (Korea), specializing in the production of electronic motor components and household appliances, also contribute to diversifying the high-tech supply chain in the region.

Lotes - Project in Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park specializes in manufacturing RAM connector pins, connecting cables and metal components for high-tech, semiconductor and electronic equipment.

The synchronous development of these two industrial parks is an important highlight in realizing the ambition of turning Hung Yen into a new technology pole.

Equally important is the strategy for developing high-quality human resources. Hung Yen has closely cooperated with universities and technical colleges in and outside the province to implement a training model closely linked to the actual needs of businesses. “Dual training” programs - both studying theory at school and practicing right at the factory are being widely applied, helping students access new technology early, while businesses have a workforce that meets their needs. The province also aims to form a closed “business - training - recruitment” ecosystem, ensuring quality human resources for this key industry.

The trust from the international business community is the clearest proof of the effectiveness of the strategy to build a Semiconductor Center. By the end of August 2025, the whole province had attracted 232 new projects and 194 projects with increased capital with a total value of more than 119,299 billion VND and 1.554 billion USD. Up to now, Hung Yen has nearly 3,908 valid projects, including 3,010 domestic projects (total registered capital of 645,396 billion VND) and 898 FDI projects (total capital of 16.23 billion USD).

The presence of leading enterprises not only brings direct economic value, but also creates a spillover effect, leading to a series of satellite projects, while laying the foundation for Hung Yen to gradually form a complete semiconductor ecosystem.

In the context of increasingly fierce global technology competition, thorough preparation and long-term vision will determine which is a reliable destination for international corporations.
