Greg Norman is an Australian professional golfer who has been associated with Vietnam tourism since 2018 as Tourism Ambassador. During his first term (2018 - 2021), he made a strong impression by contributing to making Vietnam "Asia's Best Golf Destination" 8 consecutive times and " World's Best Golf Destination" 2 times (2019, 2021) voted by World Golf Awards.
The reappointment of Mr. Greg Norman as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador will continue to promote and advertise tourism, while continuing to build “golf diplomacy ” - a form of soft connection between Vietnam and the international business, sports and tourism community. This is also an activity to continue to promote his role, prestige, international relationships and understanding of Vietnam to promote the image of Vietnam to the world; spreading the message that Vietnam is an ideal destination for the world tourism industry in general and the golf community in particular.
According to the appointment decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Greg Norman will continue to perform his duties as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador for a period of 5 years, from 2025 to 2030. In addition to promoting golf tourism, Mr. Greg Norman will actively participate in activities to promote Vietnam's heritage, cuisine, culture and other unique tourism products to the international community. The continued appointment of Mr. Greg Norman is part of the national tourism promotion strategy, especially when Vietnam aims to not only attract a large number of visitors but also improve the quality of spending, extend the length of stay, and attract the high-end segment.
Speaking at the ceremony to receive the decision to appoint Vietnam Tourism Ambassador for the 2025-2030 term, Mr. Greg Norman emphasized: “I am proud to continue to be associated with Vietnam in the position of Tourism Ambassador for the 2025-2030 term. I pledge to do my best to continue to promote the image of Vietnam, a destination not only for golfers but also a country of heritage, nature, culture and friendly people, to further spread the image of Vietnam Tourism to the world.”
It is expected that in the new term, Mr. Greg Norman will continue to promote Vietnam golf tourism on personal media platforms with more than 175,000 cumulative followers, aiming to raise international recognition of Vietnam's golf destination. Connect to organize international golf tournaments in Vietnam, including plans to coordinate with LIV Golf, to bring a top tournament to Vietnam within the framework of the Ambassador's term. Deploy the Greg Norman Golf Academy chain to train the young generation of golfers, popularize golf in physical education, creating conditions for Vietnamese people to access this sport early.
He will also advise on the development of sustainable golf course management and development policies, combining environmental protection and green tourism development, and propose a program for the inspection and ranking of international standard golf courses. Connecting golf tourism with heritage tourism through events such as the Heritage Golf Festival in Quang Tri, Hue, and Da Nang. Continuing to coordinate and participate in activities to promote Vietnam tourism in general and golf tourism in particular at tourism and cultural programs and events held in the United States and Australia organized and participated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
