On the evening of October 19, guitarist Steve Vai brought the Inviolate music night to Vietnam, attracting more than 1,000 spectators at Nguyen Du Stadium (HCMC).

The event celebrates his 45-year musical journey and Vietnam is also the first destination of Steve Vai's Inviolate tour in Southeast Asia.

Opening the night, the three-time Grammy winner appeared with his familiar guitar. He performed with his bandmates: Jeremy Colson (drums), Philip Bynoe (bass) and guitarist Dante Frisiello.

During the show that lasted more than 2 hours, Steve Vai immersed fans in the melodies associated with his name such as: Tender surender, Lights are on, Greenish blues, Bad horsie ... These are all selected songs from successful albums throughout the 45-year career of the American legend.

Some songs like Passion & warfare, Alien love secrets, Fire garden... remind listeners of the 63-year-old male artist's music from the 1990s and early 2000s.

In particular, Steve Vai also brought Hydra - the legendary guitar nicknamed "the 3-headed monster" - onto the stage when performing the song Teeth of Hydra . The image of the artist sublimating with the special guitar made a strong impression on the audience, helping him receive enthusiastic applause.

Between performances, Steve Vai took time to interact with the Vietnamese audience. The artist was grateful for the audience's support, expressing his surprise and love for the atmosphere at Nguyen Du Stadium.

Steve Vai shared: "This October marks 45 years since I started my career. After all these years, I am now in this country performing. Thank you very much."

The guitar legend also said that he always wanted to explore new lands, places he had never been to before. Therefore, before he passed away, before he could no longer perform music, he wanted to come to Vietnam.

After the performance For the Love of God , Steve Vai closed the concert, bowed to the fans and said: "Thank you for creating memories for a memorable evening in a great city. See you next time!".

According to Dan Tri reporters, the audience present at Nguyen Du Stadium were mostly Steve Vai fans in particular and guitar lovers, rock and metal music lovers in general. Many foreigners were also present to enjoy the performance of the world guitar master.

Ms. Vu Thu Thuy (33 years old, from Lam Dong) expressed her emotions after Steve Vai's concert. Previously, she had watched her idol's show abroad, but enjoying Steve Vai's music in Vietnam still brought her many interesting experiences.

"I felt that the quality of the music of the show was worth the money I spent. Not only me, but everyone around me almost cried when immersed in this atmosphere. Steve Vai performed extremely enthusiastically and sublimely.

Steve Vai's music is about goodness, honoring human life, conveying positive things and encouraging the listener's spirit. There are moments when he performs, I tell myself that this Tet I will turn on this song to listen to and welcome the new year," Ms. Thuy shared.

Talking to Dan Tri reporter, guitarist Mike Le Duy - lecturer of light music guitar at Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music - also expressed his excitement after Steve Vai's Inviolate music night.

"Steve Vai is one of the greatest guitarists in the world. His style is not my style, but when I heard he was coming to Ho Chi Minh City to perform, I thought I had to go see him," said Mike Le Duy.

Artist Mike Le Duy also commented that Steve Vai performs a unique genre of music that is picky about listeners, so the show in Ho Chi Minh City is relatively small in scale, with many rows of seats not filled.

"I hope that in the future, domestic audiences will pay more attention to guitars and guitarists. Of course, with a name like Steve Vai, I think he doesn't focus on revenue when choosing Vietnam as a stop for his world tour. In Steve Vai's position, he wants to promote his name and explore new markets rather than sell tickets," said Mike Le Duy.

Steve Vai's real name is Steve Siro Vai, born in 1960 in New York, USA.

During his career, Steve Vai has won 3 Grammy awards. From 1983 to present, he has released 12 albums, with more than 15 million records sold, and performed more than 100 tours around the world.

Inviolate World Tour kicked off in May, with Ho Chi Minh City being the first stop of the tour in Southeast Asia.

Immediately after the show, Steve Vai and his associates traveled to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to prepare for the show there. The concerts in the Inviolate World Tour are expected to last until 2025 in many countries around the world.
