“We all know that other countries also invest a lot in their teams, such as naturalizing a lot of athletes, causing difficulties for us because Vietnamese people are short and weak. But in return, we have a quick and agile spirit,” said coach Mai Duc Chung. “The team has also been given many opportunities by the leadership of the Vietnam Football Federation to compete and train abroad with better teams so that we can learn and gain experience. The recent training period in Japan with a number of friendly matches has helped the team improve their skills and confidently aim for the SEA Games with the highest goal.”

On the afternoon of December 1, the U22 Vietnam team arrived in Bangkok (Thailand), officially starting their journey to conquer the men's football at the 33rd SEA Games. At Suvarnabhumi Airport, the support force of the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee coordinated to create the best conditions for the team to quickly complete immigration procedures, ensuring convenience for the whole team on the day of travel.

Representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand, Counselor Hoang Diem Hanh and Embassy officials, personally went to the airport to welcome the team, presented flowers and sent wishes to the U22 Vietnam team to achieve the set goals, contributing to the overall success of Vietnamese Sports at this Congress.

Immediately after settling in, the team had a light meal and a short rest before starting the first training session at 5:00 p.m. the same day. This session was to help the players relax after the journey, and at the same time get used to the weather conditions, the pitch and the new lifestyle in Bangkok. The U22 Vietnam team will have two final days of preparation before playing the opening match of Group B against U22 Laos on December 3.
