The above information has just been confirmed by the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI). Accordingly, the World Football Federation (FIFA) has agreed to approve goalkeeper Maarten Paes to wear the jersey of the archipelago team, participating in the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia.

Indonesia will have World Cup qualifiers in early September, against Saudi Arabia on September 5 and Australia on September 10. If coach Shin Tae Yong (Korean) calls up the Indonesian team for these matches, goalkeeper Maarten Paes is fully qualified to play.
In addition, goalkeeper Maarten Paes is also eligible to play for the Indonesian national team in the 2024 AFF Cup (taking place from December 9, 2024 to January 5, 2025), in case coach Shin Tae Yong calls him to join the Indonesian team to compete in the Southeast Asian Football Championship.
Goalkeeper Maarten Paes is 26 years old, born in the Netherlands. He is playing for Dallas Club in the American professional soccer league MLS.
Maarten Paes has the advantage of physique (1m91 tall), trained in Europe, so he is very confident in aerial balls, as well as good at mastering the 16m50 area. This is what the Indonesian team needs for their World Cup qualifying campaign.
