According to UDN (China), engineers have made important progress in developing a "no-fold" screen for the iPhone Fold model. The project is said to have passed the testing phase and moved to the pre-mass production stage. The device could be launched in September 2026.
Apple has not commented on this information.
Another report from Fubon Research said the iPhone Fold could cost up to $2,399, making it the most expensive foldable phone on the market today - higher than the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Samsung Galaxy Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 7 or the new Motorola Razr, which are priced between $700 and $2,000.

The foldable phone market has grown since 2018, but manufacturers have yet to completely solve the problem of screen creases. The OnePlus Open is currently rated as having the least visible crease, but it has not been able to completely eliminate it.
According to Jessica Naziri, a technology content creator at TechSesh.co , 2026 could be a milestone for foldable devices. She believes that Apple's new technical innovations will attract users, even if the selling price is high.
The UDN report also said that Apple is working with NewRixing and Amphenol to develop hinges and stress-bearing parts to limit folding. The hinge technology uses liquid metal, which is said to increase durability when opening and closing.
The inner display was developed by Samsung Display, while Apple was responsible for the structural design, material processing, and laminating process.
Foxconn is said to have set up a trial production line with a few dozen devices before entering mass production.
According to Fubon Research , high component costs - including OLED panels, hinges and ultra-lightweight components - are the reason for the sharp price increase of the iPhone Fold. In addition, RAM prices have increased 75% in the past year and total material costs could increase by 5-7% by 2026 as demand for chips, memory and storage continues to increase.
