The Tasnim news agency, citing sources close to the Iranian negotiating team, reported on May 18 that Washington had previously sent Tehran a 14-point response to Iran's initial proposal. After revising the content, Iranian negotiators sent the new proposal to the US through Pakistan.

"According to recent information exchange, Iran has once again submitted a 14-point proposal through Pakistani mediators after making revisions… The new document focuses on negotiating steps and confidence-building measures by the US," the source revealed.
Also on May 18, the Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that it was continuing negotiations with the US through Pakistan, while asserting that Tehran's right to enrich uranium "is non-negotiable under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)."
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei stated: “Iran will closely monitor developments and focus on its national interests at the negotiating table despite the threats. I also need to warn that in the event of any miscalculation by the other side, Iran may respond forcefully.”
