Reuters news agency reported that on September 23, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced: "We are intensifying attacks in Lebanon. Operations will continue until we achieve the goal of bringing the people of the North back home safely."
In the same announcement, the head of the Israeli Ministry of Defense reassured the people of the country, emphasizing: "These are days when the Israeli public will have to show calm."
Meanwhile, at a press conference, IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said the army had carried out new attacks on Hezbollah sites since the morning of September 23 and would continue to carry out “widespread and precise” attacks across Lebanon.
"We recommend that people in Lebanese villages located in and near buildings or areas used by Hezbollah for military purposes immediately move away from danger for their own safety," he said, according to AFP news agency.
Lebanon's official news agency confirmed the warning issued by Israel, according to which residents in the capital Beirut and some areas received text messages via landlines originating from Israel, asking them to quickly evacuate their places of residence.
The office of Lebanese Information Minister Ziad Makary received a landline call and when staff answered, there was a "recorded message" telling them to evacuate.
This is the first time the Israeli military has issued such a warning to the Lebanese people since the outbreak of the conflict in Gaza, which has seen Hezbollah carry out attacks on Israel in support of Hamas forces.
For now, the Israeli offensive is focused solely on an “air campaign,” with the goals of reducing Hezbollah’s threats, pushing it away from the border, and destroying the infrastructure Hezbollah has built near the border, an IDF official said.
In the face of worrying developments in the Middle East, the Chinese Embassy in Israel has called on its citizens in the Middle Eastern country to "return home or relocate to safer areas as soon as possible".
In a statement on September 22, the Chinese Embassy in Israel stated: “Currently, the situation along the Israel-Lebanon border is extremely tense, with frequent military conflicts… The security situation in Israel remains severe, complex and unpredictable.”
Last month, China ordered its citizens to leave Lebanon after an Israeli attack on the neighboring country killed a senior Palestinian leader.
