Remilk announced it has partnered with Gad Dairies to bring its "non-cow milk" products - marketed as identical to real milk - to Israeli consumers.
Specifically, from January 2026, two products including 3% fat milk and vanilla flavored milk made from Remilk's animal-free protein, containing no lactose, cholesterol, antibiotics or growth hormones, will be sold at supermarket chains under the "New Milk" brand.
In addition, the Barista milk product line for the food service market will also be available in cafes, restaurants and hotels in the coming days. Remilk added that it will launch other products in this milk line in the coming months and is in talks to expand into the US market.
The announcement comes more than two years after Israel's Health Ministry granted Remilk permission to market its milk, paving the way for the product to reach consumers.
Last September, Strauss Group, one of Israel's largest food manufacturers, also announced plans to launch a line of "non-cow" milk and cheese products using Imagindairy's whey protein, produced using the same precise fermentation technology. The group began selling its "Yotvata cow-free" beverage and "Symphony cow-free" cream cheese this month.
According to Remilk, their product will be priced similarly to other alternative milks such as soy milk or almond milk, but the founder claims that Remilk milk is "more like real milk" than plant-based products.
Remilk's protein is "identical to the protein in traditional cow's milk," allowing for products with "the same taste, texture and functionality" as cow's milk, said Ori Cohavi, co-founder and chief technology officer of Remilk.
In addition, Remilk products contain 75% less sugar than regular cow's milk, and are supplemented with calcium and vitamins.
Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Ness Ziona, Remilk produces non-animal milk protein through a yeast fermentation process that creates a protein that is “chemically identical” to the protein in cow’s milk – resulting in a product that is almost identical in taste, texture and nutritional value. The company has also been approved by health authorities in Singapore and the US to produce and sell “non-cow” milk products.
Remilk protein can be used in a variety of foods such as milk, ice cream, yogurt or cream cheese - all without lactose, cholesterol, antibiotics or growth hormones.
According to research firm Research and Markets, the alternative milk market is expected to grow from $32 billion in 2024 to $57 billion in 2030. Currently, this market is mainly dominated by plant-based beverages such as soy, almond, coconut, oat or hemp.
Besides Remilk, many other companies are also entering this field, such as Imagindairy, with precision fermentation technology to recreate animal-free whey and casein proteins - used to produce "nature-like" alternative milk products.
