According to Telegram pages monitoring the war in Ukraine, the Russian Army has taken control of the village of Mirne, near Gulyaypole, Zaporozhye front. Ukraine attempted to counterattack, but failed.
Thus, the Russian Army is approaching the T08-14 highway, gradually isolating the city of Gulyaypole, one of the important defensive strongholds in southern Zaporozhye.

In addition, there is also news that Russia has taken control of the village of Ivanivske in the west of Bakhmut. This means that the town of Chasov Yar is in the Russian sights. The Russian army is also pushing forward from Bordanivka in the direction of encirclement on this front.
Meanwhile, military correspondent Evgeny Lisitsyn said that Ukraine launched a counterattack in the village of Berdychi, near Avdeevka. Fierce battles continued in Tonenkoye, Orlivka and Pervomaiske. This is the new defense line that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) built after the fall of Avdeevka.
Some sources on the battlefield said that Russian shock troops are advancing into Pervomaiske and pushing back the AFU defense forces there.
On March 18, Ukrainian sabotage groups attempted to cross the border into the Belgorod and Kursk regions, but were repelled. Russia also shot down all the missiles used by Ukraine in the attack missions.
Regarding Ukraine's military activities in the border area with Russia, military expert, Captain of the Reserve Army Vasily Dandykin assessed the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin to create a buffer zone on the territory of Ukraine to prevent attacks and shelling by hostile forces on Russian territory.
According to Vasily Dandykin, safe buffer zones should run along the entire border between Russia and Ukraine.
“These are the Chernigov and Sumy regions, bordering the Russian regions of Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk. The border is large, hundreds of kilometers, with quite complex terrain conditions. Currently, the enemy is evacuating people from many villages and towns deep into Ukrainian territory. Creating a safe buffer zone of several dozen to several hundred kilometers to limit the enemy's use of long-range attack weapons similar to HIMARS is to ensure the security of residential areas along the border,” said expert Vasily Dandykin.
“This will be a gray zone, there will be no enemies and their firepower there,” Vasily Dandykin stressed, assessing that the buffer zone will help keep the distance from the Ukrainian side and eliminate the risk of sabotage and firepower attacks.
In a recent press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin admitted that Moscow could create a buffer zone on existing Ukrainian territory. According to him, this area would make it impossible for Ukrainian long-range attack weapons to cross and attack and destroy Russian cities.
In 2023, the Russian President first announced the idea of creating a buffer zone in Ukraine. The Russian leader noted that the issue would be considered depending on the situation.

In his latest statement, Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky accused some of Kiev's allies of short-sighted thinking that led to a lack of long-range weapons aid to the AFU.
Volodymir Zelensky thanked Canada for joining the drone alliance and because this weapon has proven to be extremely effective.
“In such difficult war conditions, the weakness of our army is clearly due to the short-sightedness of some partners,” the Ukrainian President stressed.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that he did not rule out the possibility that Paris could conduct ground military operations in Ukraine. At the same time, the politician stressed that he did not like such a development and did not intend to initiate it.
