The ceremony to present 300 copies of the “Kawasaki Frontale Math Practice” document took place on January 25. These math practice documents will then be sent to many other schools and communities in Vietnam.

Following the donation ceremony, Kawasaki Frontale Club launched a “Math Class with Physical Activity” held on January 25-26, with about 250 6th graders of the school participating.

Sixth grade students represented to receive math practice materials.

Students participating in the math class shared that this was a new and interesting experience when they could combine physical and mental exercise, playing and learning at the same time. With the enthusiastic guidance of teachers from Kawasaki Frontale Football School, students practiced the exercise of counting the number of times the ball was juggled and calculating the average as well as having fun interacting during class.

Starting from 2022, JICA has been working with the Japan Professional Football League (J-League) to conduct a feasibility study on expanding activities carried out in Japan to football training schools overseas as well as operating football training schools affiliated with J.League clubs, aiming to solve social issues and realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through this survey, JICA, together with Kawasaki Frontale Club, is supporting the development of a foundation for social contribution activities in Vietnam.

In Japan, Kawasaki Frontale Club has donated math practice materials to all 6th grade elementary school students (equivalent to 6th grade junior high school students in Vietnam) in Kawasaki City and about 12,000 students of specialeducation schools (statistics in 2022), in addition to implementing activities to encourage and enhance learning through football with math classes combined with physical activities. This time, with support from JICA, these math practice materials have been translated into Vietnamese and this is considered a typical example of the social contribution activities that Kawasaki Frontale Club has been carrying out.

This is also the first time a Japanese professional football team has developed learning materials such as math practice materials in a foreign language. The materials are related to football, a favorite sport of Vietnamese people, so it is expected to inspire and enhance the learning ability of students who are currently having difficulty with math. In addition, by providing these practice materials not only within Vietnam but also to Vietnamese students in Japan, JICA hopes to contribute to supporting Vietnamese students who have difficulty learning in Japanese, as well as helping them adapt better to the multicultural environment when living in Japan.

JICA will continue to work with partners to contribute to sustainable socio -economic development and solve regional issues through sports./.
