Although not blessed with many natural advantages and facing challenges due to the impact of geopolitical fluctuations in the region, Jordan has made efforts to introduce policies to promote economic growth.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, Jordan's economy has begun to recover. In June 2022, Jordan announced a 10-year strategy called "Economic Modernization Vision", with the goal of doubling GDP to 82 billion USD by 2033. To realize this vision, Jordan aims to increase exports, attract investment, address difficulties in the private sector, reform administration... through 366 initiatives in 35 areas.

Vietnam and Jordan established diplomatic relations on August 9, 1980. In recent times, the two countries have closely coordinated and supported each other at international forums and organizations. Bilateral trade turnover in 2024 reached approximately 190 million USD, of which Vietnam exported more than 95% (nearly 181 million USD), mainly agricultural products, aquatic products, electronic products and consumer goods. Vietnam's main import items include textiles, fertilizers, chemicals, etc.

The two sides are making efforts to boost trade turnover to reach 500 million USD by 2030 and 1 billion USD by 2035. With the potential for cooperation in the Halal field, the two sides focus on increasing exchanges in human resource training, production, processing, packaging, distribution and mutual recognition of Halal certificates.

In addition, Vietnam and Jordan can strengthen cooperation in education and training, developing high-quality human resources in the fields of information technology, artificial intelligence, digital transformation and green energy. Both are attractive destinations with famous heritages in the two regions, Vietnam and Jordan can exploit the potential for cooperation in the field of tourism. In Jordan, where many wonders and ancient relics converge, the world cultural heritage Petra is considered one of the most precious cultural assets of mankind, promising to be a dream destination for many Vietnamese tourists.

Jordan in particular and the Middle East market in general are potential areas for Vietnamese enterprises. As of the end of September 2025, Jordan had 5 valid investment projects in Vietnam with a total registered investment capital of 1 million USD, ranking 108/153 countries and territories investing in Vietnam. However, the two sides still have many untapped potentials and strengths for cooperation.

According to the Vietnamese Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and concurrently to Jordan, Nguyen Thanh Diep, currently, Vietnamese enterprises can prioritize investment in industries that are suitable for regional needs, potential areas, such as: agricultural products, food, Halal production, seafood, construction materials, consumer goods, textiles, renewable energy, logistics, information technology and skilled labor. To do business effectively in this region, enterprises need to thoroughly understand Islamic culture and local business practices, at the same time increase their presence to promote and advertise products, participate in major specialized fairs to find partners...

During the recent meetings between the leaders of the two countries, Jordan has always appreciated Vietnam's strong rise and wished to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in politics, economy, society, etc. The two sides agreed to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, to enhance political trust; and at the same time consider negotiating and signing a number of cooperation agreements on trade and investment.

Vietnam is ready to cooperate in agriculture and support Jordan in ensuring food security; cooperate in digital transformation, while Jordan wants the two sides to strengthen cooperation in science and technology, human resource training... This year, Vietnam and Jordan celebrate the 45th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (August 9, 1980 - August 9, 2025) and this is an important milestone for the two sides to assess potential and seek new cooperation opportunities.
