Members of the Thanh Hoa Blood Donation Club prepare relief goods for flood victims.

For about 4 years now, the Thanh Hoa Blood Donation Club has become a familiar address for the community of voluntary blood donors and medical staff at hospitals. With the spirit of being ready to "call and be present", the Club members always provide timely support when patients need blood for treatment or emergency. Many times, in the middle of the night or on stormy days, they have quickly arrived at the hospital, donated blood, and transfused platelets to save the lives of patients.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hai (born in 1985, in Ham Rong ward), one of the active members of the club, shared: “Donating blood not only saves people, but also helps to spread the meaning of life. Witnessing people in difficult circumstances, struggling with illness and finding blood to treat their illness, my wife and I told ourselves to always be ready to donate blood when someone needs it. Every time we receive news that a patient urgently needs blood, my wife and I are ready to go, regardless of day or night, rain or shine.”

The enthusiasm of the members, the spirit of charity and professionalism in activities have made the Thanh Hoa Blood Donation Club become a core and trustworthy force in the blood donation movement of Thanh Hoa province. Not only participating in blood donation, the Club members also actively participate in propaganda activities in the province's blood donation events such as: Red Journey, Red Spring Festival, Red Sunday... At the same time, the Club also regularly calls on the community to participate in blood donation when there is a need for blood for treatment and emergency on social networking platforms. The Club's Fanpage has attracted 7,600 participants. Since then, it has become a reliable bridge between blood donors and patients in need of blood. On average, each year, the Thanh Hoa Blood Donation Club mobilizes and donates nearly 2,000 units of blood to hospitals.

Along with participating in charity blood donation activities, the Club also actively participates in social assistance activities. Specifically, free transportation of the deceased from the hospital to home; patients in difficult circumstances; transportation of martyrs' remains; visiting and giving gifts to children and people in difficult circumstances; supporting people in risks and natural disasters. Like the recent flood, the Club has coordinated with volunteer clubs inside and outside the province to mobilize resources to support goods, necessities, support for repairing machinery and refrigeration for people in flooded areas and affected by floods in communes in the province: Nong Cong; Tuong Linh, Hau Loc, Ha Trung, Kim Tan, Yen Dinh, Quang Ngoc... and other provinces.

The Thanh Hoa Blood Donation Club was established in November 2021. Shortly after its establishment, the Club has become a core force in the province's voluntary blood donation movement and humanitarian assistance activities. It gathers hundreds of enthusiastic members from many localities and different professions. All share a heart of kindness and the spirit of "living for everyone".

Meeting the members of the Thanh Hoa Blood Donation Club when they were preparing relief goods for people affected by floods in Dien Bien province. In the small house filled with mobilized goods, some sorted the goods, others checked the list of necessities. While arranging the goods and chatting, Mr. Nguyen Sy Duc, Head of the Thanh Hoa Blood Donation Club, said: Before being officially established, the Club operated spontaneously, as a group of kind-hearted members who regularly participated in blood donation activities and supported people in difficult circumstances. After many times of donating blood, the Club members learned about the Provincial Red Cross Society. With the desire to spread humanitarian activities, the Club was officially established and is a Club under the Provincial Red Cross Society. The Club switched to more professional activities when organizing volunteer activities. All activities of mobilizing resources and giving gifts are based on the actual needs of the people and are public and transparent.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thanh, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, shared: The Blood Donation Club Giọt Hồng Xu Thanh is one of the dynamic clubs, rich in the spirit of charity. Their activities not only contribute significantly to the results of voluntary blood donation and the humanitarian movement of the province, but they are also the "nuclei" spreading charity in the community.

The valuable thing about the Blood Donation Club Giọt Hồng in Thanh is the spirit of volunteerism, solidarity and community responsibility - important factors that help the Club operate effectively, becoming a humanitarian support in the hearts of many Thanh people.
