
Accordingly, immediately after receiving reports from residents about trees being cut down in the Ho Nuoc Ngot Cultural Area, the People's Committee of Soc Trang Ward assigned the ward police to inspect and investigate the scene inside the Ho Nuoc Ngot Cultural Area.
According to initial on-site statistics, 42 trees were recorded as having been cut down, most of them decades old.

At the scene, authorities also discovered cut marks on the ground around the felled tree stumps, the wood was still fresh, and discarded branches were found on the concrete walkway. Some tree trunks had already been transported away.
On-site verification at the Freshwater Lake Cultural Area revealed that several individuals organized the felling of 42 trees, and a total of seven trucks transported the felled trees.

Currently, the incident is being investigated by the People's Committee of Soc Trang Ward in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City and the Economic Police Department (Can Tho City Police), and a report will be submitted to the competent authorities for guidance on handling the matter in accordance with regulations.
Following the merger on July 1st, the Ho Nuoc Ngot Cultural Area (No. 2 Hung Vuong Street, Soc Trang Ward) is managed by the Tourism Information and Promotion Center under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City.
Upon discovering that the trees had been cut down, the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City directed the center to review and compile a list of the felled trees.
