In recent times, storms and floods, especially historic floods over a large area, have caused serious flooding and heavy damage to people, houses and infrastructure in the provinces of Gia Lai, Dak Lak , Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong.

To urgently overcome the consequences of natural disasters and protect cultural heritage in the four provinces, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested the People's Committees of Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces to direct functional agencies and local authorities to organize inspections and reviews of the technical status and assess the level of damage to relics and museums in the provinces to promptly propose measures to support, reinforce, and ensure safety, and prevent collapses and landslides at relics and museums.

At the same time, localities organize inventory, review, and evaluate the preservation status of documents, relics, and antiquities in relics and museums that are affected or at risk of damage due to rain, floods, and mold to develop urgent preservation plans to avoid irreparable losses.

In case professional support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is needed, the People's Committees of the provinces are requested to proactively propose so that the Ministry can direct competent agencies to advise and coordinate handling.

In addition, localities should strengthen propaganda and guide the community to participate in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters; detect and warn early signs of abnormalities so that there will be early response and remedial plans, thereby contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of management, protection and promotion of the value of relics, artifacts, antiquities, etc., ensuring safety for people and relics and museums.

In the long term, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recommends that the People's Committees of Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces direct the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with specialized agencies in the area to develop a Disaster Risk Management Plan, in order to be more proactive in identifying, preventing, responding to, minimizing and recovering from natural disaster risks for relics and museums in the area.
