On December 9, Mr. Hoang Trong Binh, Deputy General Director of Vung Ang II Thermal Power Company Limited, said that the contractor is mobilizing human resources and equipment to focus on overcoming the consequences of the recent storm No. 10, which collapsed two roofs of the plant's coal warehouse.
It is expected that the repair of the items will be completed around July or August 2026, to put the factory back into operation.

Previously, on December 4, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment also issued document No. 9949/BNNMT-MT requesting Vung Ang II Thermal Power Company Limited to urgently overcome the effects of storm No. 10, ensuring safety and environment of the entire plant.
During the period of repairing and operating the factory, the company must re-evaluate the actual storage capacity of all warehouses and compartments to ensure they meet the conditions of cover, safe structure, and environmental protection requirements to proactively adjust the coal import and export plan.

Along with that, fully implement measures to minimize coal dust dispersion; have plans and collect all overflowing rainwater and wastewater generated from the coal storage process (if any) to the industrial wastewater treatment system for treatment.
Develop a plan to respond to environmental incidents during repair and operation.

Vung Ang II BOT Thermal Power Plant started construction in 2021, with a total investment of 2.2 billion USD, invested by Vung Ang II Thermal Power Company Limited.
This is a key project in Vung Ang Economic Zone (Vung Ang ward, Ha Tinh province).
