Western tourists wrap banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), dance the sạp dance, and smash clay pots on the beach in Da Nang.

TPO - In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse, many international tourists enthusiastically immersed themselves in the atmosphere of the traditional Vietnamese Tet holiday through folk cultural experiences along the coast of Da Nang.

According to observations, these days, the East Sea Park area ( Da Nang City) has become vibrant with the participation of a large number of locals and international tourists. Many tourists expressed their delight at directly learning about Vietnamese Tet customs for the first time, from wrapping banh tet (traditional rice cakes), making traditional jams, to enjoying traditional spring dishes. Locals and tourists enthusiastically participated in traditional spring festival activities such as bamboo pole dancing, pot smashing, folk singing, portrait painting, and street music performances, creating a vibrant and warm atmosphere amidst the coastal landscape of Da Nang.

Mark Johnson, a tourist from England, shared that this was his first time personally wrapping banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) and experiencing the traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) atmosphere of the Vietnamese people. “I am very impressed with how the Vietnamese preserve family and community traditions during Tet. Wrapping the cakes together, chatting, and sharing brings a very warm feeling,” Mark said.

The "Fishing Village Tet" space, constructed from rustic bamboo and rattan, vividly recreates the image of Tet in the coastal region of Central Vietnam.

Reportedly, the "Spring of Love 2026" program, organized by the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang's tourist beaches, took place from February 6th to 10th, aiming to provide a joyful spring atmosphere rich in traditional culture for locals and tourists at the beginning of the new year.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Vu, Head of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang's tourist beaches, said that the "Spring of Love 2026" program was organized to bring the traditional Tet holiday closer to locals and tourists. Through experiential activities such as making banh chung and banh tet (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), traditional jams, and folk games, the organizers hope to create a bond between locals and tourists, while promoting the image of Da Nang's beach tourism associated with the cultural life of fishing villages.
