Mr. Derek Chou, Director of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the number of Vietnamese tourists to Taiwan (China) has increased steadily in recent years. In 2024 alone, the total number of visitors will reach about 370,000, approaching pre-pandemic levels. In the first 9 months of this year alone, Taiwan welcomed more than 330,000 Vietnamese visitors, an increase of 15% over the same period last year.

According to the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, the Vietnamese market continues to be prioritized in promotional programs, aiming to attract more tourists to explore the diverse destination ecosystem - from landscape, culture, beliefs to cuisine .

Not only the outbound growth, the Taiwanese tourist market to Vietnam also witnessed a strong breakthrough. In 2024, Taiwan ranked 3rd in the top 10 markets sending international visitors to Vietnam, with 1.29 million arrivals, an increase of 51.4% over the same period and a recovery rate of 139% compared to before the pandemic - only behind South Korea and mainland China.

According to the General Statistics Office, in the first 10 months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed 17.2 million international visitors, an increase of 21.5% over the same period. Of which, Taiwan continued to hold the third position, contributing 1 million arrivals, after China (4.3 million) and South Korea (3.6 million).

Vietnam and Taiwan have many similarities, from East Asian religious culture, diverse street food, bustling night markets, tea drinks and modern but not too rushed urban life. These similarities help tourists easily integrate and feel familiar when moving between the two destinations.

For Vietnamese tourists coming to Taiwan for the first time, iconic destinations such as Taipei 101, Ximending walking street, Shilin night market or National Palace Museum are always on the itinerary of discovery . Jiufen - Shifen Old Street with small alleys and sky lantern experience, along with Yehliu Geopark with unique rock formations, are also places not to be missed.

Besides the familiar destinations, Taiwan is also attractive for its peaceful and culturally rich lands. Peace Island in Keelung offers a relaxing atmosphere; Lukang Old Street recreates traditional lifestyles; Pier-2 Art District in Kaohsiung is a creative "mecca" for young people; and Taitung opens up the cultural world of the Bunun tribe.

Cuisine is the factor that makes many tourists "addicted" to Taiwan from the first time they set foot. From meat-filled dumplings, stinky tofu, Taipei beef noodles to xiao long bao, pineapple cakes and milk tea - the drink considered a symbol of Taiwan - each dish contributes to creating a complete experience for the journey to explore Taiwan.
