Opening of the 10th Hai Phong City Sports Congress

The Opening Ceremony of the 10th Hai Phong City Sports Festival was held at Lach Tray Stadium (Hai Phong).

The event was attended by nearly 10,000 people; including 3,182 athletes from 114 sports delegations of communes, wards, special zones and 2 branches (Police, Army) competing in 18 official sports in the Congress program.

This is also an opportunity for Hai Phong city to select athletes for the 2026 National Sports Festival; an opportunity to affirm the goal of being in the Top 5 localities leading the country in sports movements and achievements.

Hai Phong city leaders congratulated the forces participating in the Congress Opening Ceremony.

Opening the Congress, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung emphasized: The 10th Hai Phong City Sports Congress, 2025-2026 is the first Congress to be held (after the merger of Hai Duong province (old) and Hai Phong city). This Congress was held in a new context, which is the expansion of administrative boundaries, area, and population size of Hai Phong city, creating space and conditions for comprehensive development in all areas of the city, including sports.

Currently, Hai Phong city has 958 athletes, 125 coaches, with key sports such as: Shooting, Rowing, Table Tennis, Football... The city's training and competition facilities have a number of projects that meet the standards to host national, regional and continental tournaments; becoming a prestigious and attractive destination for domestic and international sporting events.

Hai Phong City commits to continue prioritizing resources to develop mass sports; make key investments in high-performance sports; build a smart sports model associated with science and technology; link sports-culture-tourism; promote international integration and sports diplomacy.

The opening program includes the following parts: Parade of 47 blocks with 3,282 people; Opening Ceremony rituals and an art performance with the theme: "Hai Phong Sports and Physical Education firmly step into the new era", clearly demonstrating the sports spirit of "Solidarity - Honesty - Nobility - Progress"; spreading the image of Hai Phong with bravery, loyalty and aspiration to rise up.
