Attending the opening ceremony were Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong; Prof. Dr. Dang Ha Viet, Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration; Mr. Kang Boo Sung, Consul General of Korea in Da Nang; Mr. Kim In-Seon - Technical Committee of the World Taekwondo Federation; Mr. So Chun-Shup - President of the Goyang City Taekwondo Association, Korea; Mr. Kevin Woon - Secretary General of the International Clubs Organization (ICTO).
Da Nang is the host of many national and international Taekwondo competitions.
Taking place from September 14 to 16, the tournament brings together 72 clubs from 12 countries with nearly 600 people. Athletes will compete for medals in the following categories: Men's and women's boxing: Men's individual, women's individual, men's team, women's team, mixed doubles of the age groups: U12, U14, U17, U30, U40 and over 40. Individual and team competition Men and Women: 36 men's weight categories, 36 women's weight categories of 4 age groups: U12, U14, U17 and over 17.
Currently, in Da Nang city, there are about 45 Taekwondo clubs and more than 1,000 students studying Taekwondo. Taekwondo clubs in the city have a large number of students such as: Ngo Gia Tu, Bao Minh, Hai Lien Hoa, Cam Le, Thuan Phuoc, Hong Gia Khanh, Hanul, Hong Quang, Hong Nghia, Anh Chi, Tan Chinh...
This martial art has developed strongly in recent years. Not only wards in central districts, remote communes of Hoa Vang district also have Taekwondo clubs that maintain regular activities. With many favorable conditions, Da Nang has been continuously selected to host national and international Taekwondo championships. This is a good opportunity for Taekwondo athletes in Da Nang city to approach and participate in high-performance sports competitions.
