Opening of the Festival for Peace 2024

Tonight, July 6, at the Hien Luong - Ben Hai National Historical Site, Quang Tri province, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, solemnly held the opening ceremony of the 2024 Peace Festival with the theme "Joining hands to build a peaceful world".

Attending the opening ceremony on the central side were: Party Central Committee member, VicePresident Vo Thi Anh Xuan; Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long; Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine Le Hai Binh; representatives of leaders of departments, ministries, branches, unions; leaders of provinces and cities and international guests.

On the side of Quang Tri province, there were: Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Le Quang Tung; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung; members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, leaders of the People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Provincial National Assembly Delegation; provincial leaders through the periods; revolutionary veterans, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes of the People's Armed Forces, heroes of labor; leaders of departments, branches, localities and a large number of people from all walks of life, and tourists from near and far attending.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung emphasized: With the approval of the Central Party Secretariat and the Prime Minister, Quang Tri province organizes the Festival for Peace to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who heroically sacrificed for the survival of the Fatherland; commemorate the victims of war; convey the message that Vietnam loves peace, the Vietnamese people are friendly, tolerant, humane and wish to contribute to creating and preserving peace for humanity.

The Festival for Peace introduces typical cultural and artistic colors of Quang Tri and Vietnam; a lively blend of tradition and modernity; spreading the beauty of Vietnamese culture imbued with identity, rich in humanity and full of charm.

At the same time, absorb the quintessence of human culture, create opportunities for cultural meetings and convergence between regions and countries. Thereby, promote sharing, mutual understanding, solidarity, friendship, cooperation, making culture a strong driving force for development.

Coming to the Peace Festival, everyone will feel special emotions; feel that peace is not only a state without conflict or war, but also extends to respect, equality, friendship, cooperation and development among nations and peoples; is love between people, between individuals and communities and between communities...

Peace is also a song of joy, happiness, and the simple things in life that need to be cherished, respected, and preserved. Art is a magical language that brings people together, connecting souls with the vibrations of the heart.

The special art program opening the Festival for Peace with the theme “Connecting Bridges” opens a series of meaningful memorial and gratitude activities along with many political, cultural, artistic, sports and tourism events throughout July.

The Festival for Peace was initiated and organized by Quang Tri province and everyone joined hands to create value; it is an open festival, with only an opening day with a series of activities and no closing day because peace is always the desire, the eternal aspiration of humanity.

Hopefully, the festival will create an important driving force for Quang Tri to not only become a cultural space for peace, a destination for peace, a meeting place for peace-loving friends from all over the world, but also contribute to promoting potential, attracting investment, tourism... contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of Quang Tri and localities in the region.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Festival for Peace, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan affirmed: Throughout the thousands of years of building and defending the country, the Vietnamese people have gone through a long and arduous journey of struggle to build and protect the peace, independence and freedom of the country.

President Ho Chi Minh - the genius leader of our Party and People is the most beautiful symbol of patriotism and revolutionary heroism. His life and career are always associated with the ideal of independence, freedom and peace for the country. In his will before passing away, he expressed his burning desire for a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic and prosperous Vietnam, which is also the wish of the entire Vietnamese people.

Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, through many wars, thanks to gaining independence and national unification, thanks to peace, Vietnam has carried out national reconstruction, socio-economic development, improving the material and spiritual life of the people. From a poor and backward country, after nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation process, Vietnam has risen to become a middle-income country, achieving great achievements of historical significance, having the foundation, potential, position and international prestige as today.

Therefore, more than anyone else, the Vietnamese people deeply understand the extremely precious value of peace. Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on peace are not only important to Vietnam but also have a profound influence on the international arena. Applying Ho Chi Minh's thoughts, Vietnam has always been consistent in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, multilateralization, being a friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community for peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development in the world.

Vietnam has actively participated in and successfully fulfilled many important responsibilities at the United Nations and multilateral forums in the region and the world. 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of Vietnam deploying its forces to participate in the United Nations peacekeeping mission, with many important and outstanding contributions, highly appreciated by the international community.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized: Located in the Central region, with an important strategic position, Quang Tri is a miniature image of Vietnam. The land that has experienced the fierceness of war has witnessed, felt and deeply understood the pain of war and the pain of separation.

Quang Tri is also the place where we can feel most fully the desire to live, the desire for peace, independence, freedom, the desire for unity and territorial integrity of the Fatherland. Every inch of land, every river, every place name in this land bears the mark of a time of bombs and bullets with millions of compatriots, comrades and soldiers who fell to contribute to the country's blossoming of independence, the fruit of freedom, for a lasting peace throughout the S-shaped strip of land.

Closing the past, looking towards the future, in recent years, the Party Committee, government, army and people of Quang Tri have promoted the spirit of solidarity, patriotism, the aspiration to rise up, overcome many difficulties and challenges, maximized potential and advantages to build the homeland to become increasingly rich and prosperous. At the same time, they have always paid much attention to preserving, honoring and promoting the value of historical, cultural and revolutionary heritages.

The current world context shows that the trend of peace, cooperation and development is still dominant, but is facing serious challenges. In that context, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan highly appreciated the initiative of Quang Tri province in organizing the Festival for Peace. From a land destroyed by war that has been strongly reviving, the festival will convey the message of the strong vitality of the Vietnamese people who love peace, friendship, cooperation and development, thereby contributing to calling on the international community to join hands in building and protecting sustainable peace for countries and peoples around the world.

In particular, the successful organization of the Festival for Peace will contribute to deepening the national value system and also the noble goals of our nation: Peace, unity, independence, rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization, happiness, which General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has identified as the cultural identity of the Vietnamese people.

Hopefully, the Festival for Peace will increasingly attract and gather; continue to receive support, response, and widespread participation from organizations, individuals, people, and domestic and foreign tourists to join hands to build and enhance the value of the festival to become a unique and prestigious cultural brand not only of Quang Tri but also of national and international stature.

Part 1 is called “The Wish”, with a very meaningful opening ceremony including the ringing of bells showing the solidarity of all components regardless of ethnicity, religion, class, social class... together towards the goal of peace, equality, building and creating an eternal world of great unity. Expressed through the image of the Peace Bell, doves spreading their wings right on stage through graphic technology effects, drone lights flying high in the air, “The Wish” has created a special impression and emotion for delegates, people from all walks of life and visitors from near and far.

Part 2 is called “Connecting Sound”, taking Quang Tri as the center to depict the inspiration of the strong vitality of the peace-loving Vietnamese people, who have gone through thousands of years of history of fighting to preserve independence and freedom, protecting peace, proudly rising up in the integration period with endogenous strength, connecting with the strength of the times. All are clearly shown in the scene of the performance of Ngan Nam Vong Khuc Thanh Binh Ca with the songs: Cau Ho Ben Hien Luong, Nhip Cau Noi Nhung Boi Vui, Khat Vong Quang Tri..., reportage Quang Tri - Khat Hoa Binh.

Part 3, titled “Joyful Song”, is the common voice of aspiration to erase all distances, to inspire from Vietnam to the whole world to “Join hands to build a peaceful world”, vividly expressed through a video clip about the peace story with a world perspective Peace with us; the medley Bonjour VN - We are the world; the medley We need peace - This earth is ours; the medley One world - Heal the world, the song Sunflower, the song Joining hands together... And the program ends with brilliant fireworks lighting up the sky of Quang Tri.

The special art program to open the 2024 Peace Festival directed by the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Quang Tri province; organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri; and performed by Sun Bright Art Creation and Event Joint Stock Company with the participation of many famous artists such as: general director Dang Le Minh Tri; general choreographer Hai Truong; People's Artist Pham Phuong Thao, singer Tung Duong, singer Ho Quynh Huong, singer Le Anh Dung, singer Thuy Dung and many extras of Quang Tri province brought many special impressions and emotions to delegates, people from all walks of life and tourists from near and far.
