The 14th National Congress took place from January 19-25 in Hanoi with the theme: " Under the glorious banner of the Party, working together to successfully achieve the national development goals by 2030; self-reliant and confident in advancing strongly in the era of national progress, for peace , independence, democracy, prosperity, civilization, happiness, and steadily advancing towards socialism ."

According to the program, the 14th National Congress will discuss and approve important documents: the Political Report of the 13th Central Committee, the report summarizing some theoretical and practical issues on the socialist-oriented reform process over the past 40 years, the report summarizing 15 years of implementing the Party Charter (2011-2025) and proposals and directions for supplementing and amending the Party Charter; and the report reviewing the leadership and direction of the 13th Central Committee.
One of the notable policies outlined in the draft political report is the goal for national development in the coming period. This includes: maintaining a peaceful and stable environment; achieving rapid and sustainable national development and firmly protecting the Fatherland; comprehensively improving and enhancing the people's lives; achieving strategic autonomy, self-reliance, self-confidence, and strong progress in the new era of the nation; successfully achieving the goal of becoming a developing country with modern industry and high middle income by 2030; and realizing the vision of becoming a developed country with high income by 2045, for a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized, happy Vietnam, steadily advancing towards socialism.
The draft political report also outlines the main development goals and targets for the five-year period 2026-2030, including economic goals: striving to achieve an average annual growth rate of gross domestic product (GDP) of 10% or more for the period 2026-2030, and a GDP per capita of approximately US$8,500 by 2030...
Another important item on the agenda is that the Congress will elect the 14th Central Executive Committee.
At a press conference before the Congress, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Department Nguyen Thanh Tam stated that personnel work had been conducted in a very scientific, systematic, objective, comprehensive, and effective manner under the direction of the Politburo, the Personnel Subcommittee, the 13th Central Committee of the Party, and the General Secretary, ensuring democracy, prudence, strictness, and a very high degree of consensus in accordance with the Party's regulations and principles.
Right from the beginning of the 13th Party Congress term, the Politburo issued regulations on personnel planning. By the middle of the term, the Politburo had issued a plan for strategic-level personnel planning for the 14th Party Congress. Based on this, it directed the development and approval of the plan for the 14th Party Central Committee, both official and alternate members, contributing to proactively preparing a plentiful and high-quality human resource pool for the personnel work of the 14th Party Congress.
At the 10th, 11th, and 12th Central Committee meetings, the 13th Central Committee held democratic, thorough, and highly unified discussions to issue guidelines for personnel work of the 14th Central Committee of the Party. These guidelines clearly defined the viewpoints, requirements, principles, standards, conditions, structure, number, and personnel selection process for the 14th Central Committee of the Party.
Based on that, the Politburo provided guidance and introduced personnel for agencies, units, and localities to carry out the process of nominating candidates to participate in the 14th Central Committee of the Party, both full and alternate members, as well as those seeking re-election or participating for the first time in their respective agencies, localities, and units. The Politburo also directed relevant agencies to conduct thorough and careful evaluation and verification of the nominated personnel in accordance with regulations.
At the 13th, 14th, and 15th Central Committee meetings, the Politburo and the Central Committee reviewed, voted on, and unanimously nominated candidates for re-election and first-time participation, both as full members and alternate members; and approved the list of candidates to be submitted to the 14th National Congress for consideration and election of the 14th Central Committee of the Party as prescribed.
Yesterday, at the preparatory session, the Congress unanimously approved the preparatory session agenda, working regulations, work program, and election regulations for the 14th National Congress of the Party.
The Congress elected a Presidium consisting of 16 Politburo members. The Congress also elected a Secretariat of 5 members and a Credentials Committee of 13 members.
The Congress unanimously approved the report on the verification of the qualifications of delegates to the 14th Party Congress, presented by the Delegate Qualification Verification Committee. Accordingly, all 1,586 delegates summoned were deemed qualified to be delegates to the Congress.
Expectations are high for decisive policies to propel the country forward in the new era.
Attending the congress, delegate Tran Hai Phu - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tay Ninh province, Secretary of the Tay Ninh Provincial Youth Union - expressed his hope that the congress would vote on and approve policies, especially those related to digital transformation, and policies to attract talent, particularly young cadres, to help them confidently express themselves and contribute to building their homeland and country.

Delegate Tran Hai Phu also expressed his hope for preferential policies for young people starting and developing businesses, including young people in border areas, helping them continue to play a pioneering and dynamic role in enriching their own homeland.
Delegate Nguyen Thi Xuan Huong - Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Tay Ninh Provincial Party Committee - said that through contact with officials, Party members, the people, and public opinion, everyone is looking forward to and expecting decisive resolutions, action programs, and policies to bring the country to a level commensurate with its potential and rise to prominence in the new era.
After studying the draft document, delegate Huong believes that the principle of "placing people at the center, as the subject, as the goal and driving force of development" is a superior and humane policy; breakthrough policies, especially in science and technology, are expected by the people to be successfully implemented during this term.
Delegate Nguyen Ny Huong - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ha Tinh province - expressed her hope that the congress would propose policies and strategies to create strong breakthroughs in development, while also creating an environment and motivation to encourage young people to play a pioneering and creative role in building and protecting the Fatherland.
