Opening of the exhibition
Permanent Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Mai Son and other delegates visited the exhibition on its opening day.

The artifacts that have survived to this day are living testaments reflecting the cultural depth, technical skill, aesthetic thinking, and spiritual life of our ancestors.

“Through this exhibition, the organizers hope to create a space for exchange and connection between managers, researchers, collectors, and the heritage-loving public. The thematic exhibition, "Representative Antiquities of Bac Ninh Province," showcases over 500 representative artifacts originating from Vietnam across various historical periods, currently preserved at Bac Ninh Museum No. 1, Bac Ninh Museum No. 2, and in the valuable collections of members of the Kinh Bac Antiquities Collection and Research Association.

Each artifact tells a story, a slice of history, contributing to a vivid portrayal of the development of the land and people of Bac Ninh in particular, and Vietnam in general.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Mao, Director of Bac Ninh Museum No. 2, the exhibition is arranged according to three themes, spanning from the pre-Dong Son - Dong Son period to the period of independent and self-governing feudalism (10th-20th centuries).

Specifically, the theme "Representative Artifacts of the Pre-Dong Son - Dong Son Culture Period" showcases artifacts such as bronze drums, bronze jars, jewelry, stone tools, etc., reflecting the remarkable development of metalworking techniques by the Vietnamese people.

Opening of the exhibition
The artifacts include a gold bowl dating from the Tran Dynasty (13th-14th centuries) and a gold box dating from the Ly Dynasty (11th-12th centuries).

Notably, the exhibition features a bronze jar from the collection of Mr. Nguyen The Hong - Director of the Nam Hong Royal Museum. This artifact stands out with its unique decorative patterns and exquisite craftsmanship, and was recognized as a national treasure in 2023.

Theme 2, "Representative Artifacts from the Northern Domination Period," features over 100 artifacts of various types, including teapots, decorative items, and some architectural components, dating back to the 9th century. These artifacts reflect a unique historical period and a profound process of cultural exchange and transformation between the local population and the outside world.

Theme 3, "Representative Artifacts of the Independent Feudal Period (10th-20th Centuries)," boasts the richest collection of artifacts in the exhibition. The highlight is the ceramic artifacts from the Ly Dynasty: jars, teapots, etc. These artifacts exemplify the brilliant period of development in Vietnamese ceramic art.

This period features distinctive glazes such as jade glaze, ivory glaze, fired glaze, and brown glaze; notable for its lightweight ceramics, elegant shapes, and sophisticated incised and embossed techniques. This was the peak period of Dai Viet civilization, with Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac playing a crucial role as a national center.

Opening of the exhibition
Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh province, Truong Quang Hai, and Director of Bac Ninh Museum No. 2, Nguyen Huu Mao, received the donated artifacts from the collector.

In the context of integration and development, preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage, including ancient artifacts, is not only the responsibility of state management agencies but also the shared responsibility of the entire society.

"We believe that, with the attention of all levels and sectors and the support of the community, Bac Ninh's cultural heritage will continue to be sustainably preserved and widely disseminated, contributing to building the image of Bac Ninh - a 'living' heritage region, rich in identity and full of appeal," affirmed Nguyen Huu Mao, Director of Bac Ninh Museum No. 2.

On this occasion, collector Nguyen The Hong, from the Nam Hong Royal Museum in Tu Son ward, Bac Ninh province, donated a 1:1 scale replica of the national treasure, the "Emperor's Seal," made of gold-plated bronze. Previously, in 2023, under the patronage of the Vietnamese Government and various ministries and agencies, businessman Nguyen The Hong successfully purchased the "Emperor's Seal" from France for 6.1 million Euros (over 153 billion VND) .

These are elaborately crafted ceramics with thick bodies, entirely covered in ivory white glaze, and were used both for household purposes and religious rituals.
