Twelve fireworks displays simultaneously lit up the sky over the port city on New Year's Eve, ushering in a spring of faith, unity, and aspirations for development.

From 10 PM on February 16th, the art program "Hai Phong Welcomes the Year of the Horse 2026" and New Year's Eve fireworks display will take place at the Central Political and Administrative Square of the city in a large-scale, modern stage setting, incorporating high-tech sound and lighting systems.

The Central Political-Administrative Square, the new administrative heart of Hai Phong city, has been chosen as the main fireworks display location for the first time, creating a special highlight for this year's New Year's Eve.

Attending the program were: Comrade Le Tien Chau, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the city; Comrade Le Ngoc Chau, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of the city; Comrade Do Manh Hien, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee; Comrade Le Van Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council; and Comrade Pham Van Lap, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city.

Also attending were members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee; leaders of the City People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of departments, agencies, and organizations; and a large number of officials, Party members, and citizens of the city.

The program consists of two parts, creating a seamless emotional journey from tradition to modernity. The opening act features an artistic blend of contemporary folk lighting, EDM, and vibrant traditional drumming, creating a grand and distinctive performance space.

The sounds of drums blend with programmed lighting effects to create a vibrant springtime scene, igniting the lively atmosphere of the port city during the New Year's transition.

Chapter 1 - “Spring Gathering - Enduring Pride” - evokes the tradition of “Loyalty, Courage, and Victory” through familiar songs such as “You Are the Young Seedling of the Party” (Mong Lan), “Vietnam, Spring Has Arrived” (Huy Du), “The First Spring” (Van Cao), “My Hometown Port” (Ho Bac)…

Timeless melodies are given a fresh new arrangement, combining contemporary dance and large-scale LED screen projections to create an artistic space that is both exhilarating and emotionally rich.

“Spring Gathering” also recalls the first spring when the city expanded its development space, merging Hai Duong and Hai Phong (old) into a new Hai Phong – continuing the journey of “The land of culture and heroism in the East – the heroic port city”. “Everlasting Pride” is an affirmation of a sustainable spiritual foundation, empowering the journey into the future.

Chapter 2 - “Tet in Hai Phong - Radiant with Faith” - features a youthful and modern style with performances such as “Spring Melody” (music by Cao Viet Bach, lyrics by Luu Trong Lu), “Greeting the New Spring” (Pham Hai Au), a medley of “What Did We Do Last Year?” (Bui Cong Nam) - “The Most Beautiful Season” (Chau Dang Khoa), “Spring Has Arrived” (Tran Chung), “Hai Phong, My Childhood” (Do Tri Dung), “Oh Tet, Tet!” (A'Namese - Tuan Anh), “Walking Amidst the Brilliant Sky” (Ngo Lan Huong)…

A highlight of the performance was the appearance of Meritorious Artist Quang Thắng in a mashup of "Going Home" (Đen Vâu) and "This Tet, I Will Come Home" (Bùi Công Nam), staged with characteristic sounds of Hai Phong such as train whistles, night vendors' calls, and the sounds of vehicles at the port, evoking memories of home on a night of family reunion.

The program brought together many renowned artists such as People's Artist Thai Bao, People's Artist Khanh Hoa, People's Artist Nhat Thuan, along with singers Minh Quan, Hoang Hai, Van Mai Huong, Erik, Nguyen Ngoc Anh… and numerous artists from professional theaters in the city, creating an artistic evening that was both solemn and vibrant, satisfying the diverse tastes of audiences of all generations.

The highlight of the evening was the countdown, accompanied by resounding cheers throughout the square.

At exactly 0:00 on February 17, 2026 (the first day of the Lunar New Year of the Horse), the first high-altitude fireworks illuminated the sky above the city's Political and Administrative Center Square, marking the sacred moment of the New Year's Eve as the Year of the Horse arrived, amidst the joy and pride of the large number of people watching live at the square and viewers watching via television and digital platforms of Hai Phong Newspaper and Radio-Television.

As the New Year's Eve countdown began, approximately 600 high-altitude fireworks, along with 150 low-altitude pyrotechnic displays and pyrotechnics, simultaneously ignited, creating a dazzling light show in the sky above the new administrative center. The fireworks, layered and constantly changing colors, combined with vibrant music, created a moment of overwhelming emotion.

Besides the main location, four other locations will host high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks displays: the Central Cultural Square of the Eastern Region; Vinhomes Vu Yen urban area; the shore of Hanh Phuc Lake (Kien An ward); and the stadium of Kien Hai commune.

In addition, seven low-altitude fireworks display points will be set up at the dragon boat racing wharf in Kien Thuy commune; Cat Hai High School and Cat Ba Tourism Center; An Duong ward park; the stadiums of Chan Hung, Ha Bac, and Hop Tien communes; and the urban area west of Nam Sach commune.

The distribution of multiple fireworks display locations ensures that people in areas far from the city center can still fully enjoy the New Year's Eve atmosphere.

Security and order maintenance, traffic management, and the arrangement of free parking spaces were implemented comprehensively. Law enforcement officers were on duty throughout the night, guiding people to celebrate the Lunar New Year safely and in a civilized manner.

Amidst the dazzling fireworks and the vibrant spring atmosphere spreading throughout the streets, Hai Phong officially enters the Year of the Horse 2026 with renewed faith, enthusiasm, and aspiration to continue its breakthroughs and achieve rapid and sustainable development.
