Opening of the installation art exhibition space "Vietnamese Folk Toys: Connection" in Busan, Korea

On the afternoon of November 1, in Busan city (South Korea), the Consulate General of Vietnam in Busan in collaboration with the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology (under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences) and the ASEAN Cultural Center (run by the Korea Foundation (KF)) held the opening ceremony of the installation art exhibition space "Vietnamese Folk Toys: Connection"

The exhibition space was organized on the occasion of President Luong Cuong and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation attending the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Week in Korea at the end of October 2025, and at the same time, to enhance cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Korea.

President Luong Cuong, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son and Chairman of the Korea Foundation (KF) visit the exhibition space.

The exhibition will take place for 1 month (November 1, 2025 – December 1, 2025) at the ASEAN Cultural Center, Busan. Coming to this exhibition space, the public will have the opportunity to explore the beauty of Vietnamese folk toys associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival as well as the cultural values ​​behind each item.

Along with that, through folk toys and stories about the journey of preserving and passing on the craft of artisans, the exhibition introduces a unique aspect of the culture and life of contemporary Vietnamese people, while also reflecting the way of preserving and vividly promoting Mid-Autumn folk toys that the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology has carried out over the past nearly three decades.

The ASEAN Cultural Center KF and the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology exchanged the MOU in the presence of President Luong Cuong, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son and Chairman of the Korea Foundation (KF).

In particular, this activity also has the meaning of connecting not only culture but also people when the Vietnamese community is the largest foreign community in Busan and many areas in Southeast Korea.

Through this, the exhibition space is expected to be an opportunity for the Korean public to explore the similarities and differences in the cultures of the two nations, thereby contributing to enhancing understanding and strengthening friendship between the people of the two countries.

For nearly three decades, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology has been persistently preserving, restoring and creating with the community to preserve folk toys, making them a bridge between generations. Sharing about the activities in Busan this time, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Hong Hanh - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology said: "Introducing folk toys associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival in Korea is a valuable opportunity for us to spread traditional cultural values, while creating a space for dialogue and connection between two cultures that have many similarities."
