Discover Jeonbuk - the "paradise" of health tourism in the land of kimchi

Located in the southwest of Korea, Jeonbuk is not as vibrant and bustling as Seoul or Busan, but it has its own charm with a peaceful space, where visitors can find a sense of relaxation with natural scenery and traditional culture. This is a relatively new place for Vietnamese tourists, but it is an extremely popular destination for Korean people during short vacations.

Choosing health care tourism as the main direction, in the period of 2023-2025, Jeonbuk Provincial Culture and Tourism Foundation has selected 30 typical health care destinations to develop into unique products.

There, visitors can discover the healing power of nature through activities in contact with forests, mountains, seas and endemic ecosystems at many nature-centric destinations such as: Naejangsan Mountain Ecological Discovery Center in Jeong-eup, National Byeonsanbando Coastal Ecological Discovery Center in Buan, National Gochang Healing Forest, Baekdudaegan Unbong Ecological Experience Center in Namwon, Hyangro-san Natural Resort Forest in Muju...

In addition, destinations such as the wind forest in Iksan, Dalbit Sori farm, Woorideul Jeongwon farm, Gimje flower farm, Neulbom garden in Buan or Muju flower garden... are also applying therapeutic agriculture and health care services designed specifically in garden spaces.

What is special is that not only nature but also traditional Jeonbuk culture is cleverly applied in the construction of health care products. While destinations such as Awon ancient house in Wanju, Han-ga-ram Experience Center in Iksan, Oseong Hanok Village in Wanju offer "quiet recovery" through meditation, concerts... then spaces such as Bonggang-yo, Hanji Daeseung Village in Wanju, 4-H Experience Farm in Iksan offer family experiences that awaken the senses and joy through making pottery, making traditional paper...

In addition, “healing food” is also a core part of health tourism in Jeonbuk. At Sunchang Park, Sangha Farm, Eogil-lo Farm or Chimhyang, visitors will experience forest bathing therapy, foot baths using famous fermented products and meals made from local agricultural products.

Visitors can also find a variety of restorative experiences at Taekwondowon (Muju), which offers fitness and meditation programs using Taekwondo movements; Gochang Health City, which operates aromatherapy and herbal baths; or Gui-an-dong Health Experience Village in Wanju, which introduces traditional oriental medicine experiences combined with sauna and steam baths…

With these rich and diverse products, Jeonbuk is aiming for the number one position in the “Healthcare-Medical Tourism Cluster Project” implemented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea.

"Jeonbuk's strength is the coexistence of traditional resources and natural resources, where daily healing can be found. We will create an ecosystem for wellness tourism through sustainable content development and cooperation with local communities," said Lee Kyoung-yoon, CEO of the Jeonbuk Provincial Culture and Tourism Foundation.

The fund is planning to focus all its efforts on developing meditation and oriental medicine programs that attract international tourists, focusing on 30 wellness tourism destinations.

With this direction, Jeonbuk is gradually affirming its attractiveness with authentic health care experiences - where visitors can touch the peaceful rhythm of life between nature and traditional culture.
