The embankment area of Nhu Nguyet Street (Hai Chau Ward) was severely damaged after the recent storm. Hundreds of meters of embankment along the Han River were severely damaged by large waves, pieces of concrete, bricks and stones were washed away, many sections of sidewalk were destroyed, directly threatening the riverside road.

To overcome these damages, the People's Committee of Da Nang City has approved the Project to overcome the impact of storms, high tides, and waves on Nhu Nguyet Street. The project started on September 3, 2025.

This is a group C project, a level IV traffic project, invested by the Department of Construction of Da Nang City. The total investment capital of the project is over 12.4 billion VND. Of which, construction cost is over 10.3 billion VND; project management cost is over 288.9 million VND; construction investment consulting cost is over 1.176 billion VND; contingency cost is over 591.7 million VND and other costs are over 49 million VND.

The project aims to repair damaged sidewalks, improve drainage systems and add a wave-sweeping top wall structure. This solution aims to overcome the effects of storms, high tides and waves on Nhu Nguyet Street, while ensuring urban aesthetics and creating a highlight for the area.

Currently, the main solution implemented by the construction unit is to renovate the embankment wall with a wave-shaped structure.

Specifically, the items include repairing damaged revetment walls and existing sidewalks; renovating and removing part of the concrete of the top wall, extending the steel and raising the wall top. At the same time, the project will build a seawall to reduce waves from overtopping the revetment, with the revetment top elevation reaching 2.9m.

As of November 30, the construction unit is taking advantage of the clear weather to speed up progress. Many machines, equipment and workers have been reinforced, working on Saturdays and Sundays every week. The goal is to try to complete and hand over the project by December 31, 2025, if the weather conditions are favorable.

Mr. Tran Le Minh Tam, Deputy Director of the Danang Infrastructure Maintenance Board, said that the Nhu Nguyet embankment was seriously damaged due to the impact of big waves during the recent storm.

“We are currently focusing on constructing a breakwater to limit the impact of upcoming high tides. However, the weather conditions in the past few days have been so unfavorable that we have not been able to proceed as planned. Given this situation, we have organized the construction for two more days over the weekend, aiming to complete the project as soon as possible if the weather is favorable,” said Mr. Tam.
