The Government Office has announced the conclusion of the Government Standing Committee on the Implementation Plan of Power Plan VIII at the meeting on February 20.

The conclusion of the Government Standing Committee on the Plan for implementing the VIII Power Plan stated that, according to the provisions of the law on planning, the plan for implementing the plan is issued after the plan is approved so that all levels and sectors can organize synchronous and effective implementation, ensuring the objectives of the plan. Although the VIII Power Plan has been approved in Decision No. 500 dated May 15, 2023, the implementation plan has not yet been issued, which is too slow, affecting the implementation of the objectives of the Plan.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade , the consulting agency for the implementation of the Power Plan VIII, and localities are responsible for the delay in completing the plan in accordance with legal regulations, ensuring overall, synchronous, feasible, effective requirements and fully implementing the relevant directives of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.

According to the conclusion of the Government Standing Committee, the completion of the plan to implement the VIII Power Plan is a very important and urgent requirement. Further delays must not be allowed to affect the implementation of projects and the provision of sufficient electricity for production, business and household consumption.

The Government Standing Committee noted that the plan must closely follow the approved targets of the 8th Power Plan. The implementation of the plan must ensure a stable supply of electricity for the country and regions according to the annual electricity demand forecast. At the same time, it must meet the overall demand, optimally, effectively, and in accordance with the provisions of law.

The list of projects in the plan includes important, priority projects identified in the Power Plan VIII and the list of renewable energy projects in localities that are jointly calculated and determined by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and localities, ensuring legal requirements, scientific basis, meeting economic, technical, feasible criteria/requirements and in accordance with the approved Plan.

Due to the urgent need to approve the plan, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is assigned to be responsible for reviewing and completing the list of renewable energy projects in the localities, ensuring the above requirements and the requirements of publicity, transparency, and comprehensiveness, and submitting it to the Prime Minister in the plan to implement the VIII Power Plan this time.
