Urgently stabilize the lives of people severely damaged by floods and rains

That was the direction of comrade Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Lam Dong province at the working session with Ham Thang ward on the afternoon of December 7.

The delegation also included Mr. Dang Hong Sy, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Khac Binh, Standing Committee member, Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office; Mr. Nguyen Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and relevant departments and branches.

At the meeting, comrade Tran Ngoc Hien, Chairman of Ham Thang Ward People's Committee, said that from December 2 to 5, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain in the upstream communes and the release of Song Quao reservoir, the water flow through the ward increased day by day, and by noon on December 4, it had caused widespread flooding.

In the area, there are 18/19 neighborhoods, but the most flooded are Kim Binh, Kim Ngoc, Thang Thuan, Phu Hoa, Phu Thinh, Phu Thanh, Phu Xuan, Phu My, Thang Thuan, Ung Chiem, and Thang Hoa neighborhoods.

Faced with the above situation, the locality has implemented the "4 on-site" motto. Immediately upon receiving the information on December 2, the Ward Civil Defense Command and relevant units went directly to the Song Lap area, Group 1, Kim Binh quarter, which is a low-lying, flooded area, to direct the implementation of support work for people to evacuate people and property to safe locations to ensure people's lives and property.

According to statistics, in Ham Thang ward, 2 houses have completely collapsed, 5 houses are at risk of completely collapsing.

About 521 hectares of agricultural production were flooded, including fruit trees, perennial trees, rice, crops, dragon fruit... The initial estimated damage is about 120 billion VND.

Speaking at the meeting, Lam Dong Provincial Party Secretary Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam acknowledged and highly appreciated the timely intervention of the Party Committee, authorities and forces in Ham Thang ward in proactively evacuating people, being on duty, supporting affected households, and minimizing damage.

The Provincial Party Secretary requested that localities urgently carry out survey work, assess damage, and prepare documents to request support in accordance with the instructions and regulations of the law.

Direct the militia force to support cleaning and sanitizing houses for households with elderly and lonely people, to help people quickly stabilize their lives and return to normal activities after the flood.

The Provincial Party Secretary also requested functional units to organize garbage collection, clear sewers, and spray disinfectants in areas where water has receded, ensuring a clean environment and limiting the risk of disease after floods.

Along with that, Ham Thang ward needs to quickly deploy key tasks: Receive and distribute support gifts to people fairly; restore essential infrastructure works such as electricity, water, traffic, telecommunications; count cases of collapsed and severely damaged houses to support funding according to Decision 2447/QD-UBND dated December 5, 2025, ensuring completion of repairs and construction before January 15, 2026.

Regarding agricultural production, localities are required to focus on supporting people to restore rice, dragon fruit, vegetables and re-herd livestock and poultry; at the same time, organize summaries, draw lessons from flood prevention work and promptly reward organizations and individuals who have contributed.

During the working trip, the provincial leadership delegation directly surveyed heavily damaged areas; at the same time, presented many gifts to support Ham Thang ward and 25 households seriously affected by flooding.

On the same morning, the delegation inspected and worked in Ham Thuan and Ham Liem communes; at the same time, directly visited and gave gifts to people in the area affected by floods.
