Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, with its outstanding global values in geology, geomorphology, and biodiversity, has been recognized twice by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage Site (2003, 2015). It also contains many unique indigenous cultural values of the local people and a system of important historical and cultural relics.
According to Hoang Minh Thang, Director of the Phong Nha-Ke Bang Tourism Center, over the past 22 years, the UNESCO World Natural Heritage title awarded to Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park has created a major impetus for the socio-economic development of the locality, contributing to making Phong Nha-Ke Bang a famous destination both domestically and internationally.

“From having only 2 tourism products, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park now has 18 active tourist routes and destinations. In addition to traditional tourism products such as: visiting Phong Nha-Tien Son cave, Thien Duong cave; exploring Chay River-Dark Cave, Mooc Stream, Botanical Garden..., many new tourism products have also been invested in and put into operation, such as: exploring the nature of Rao Thuong-En Cave; Hamada Valley-Tra Ang Cave; Va Cave, Nuoc Nut Cave - unique experiences; exploring Dai A Cave, Over Cave and Pygmy Cave; exploring Hung Thoong, Ozo Park,... especially the world-class tourism product “Conquering Son Doong - the world's largest cave”…,” Mr. Hoang Minh Thang said.
Jungle Boss Co., Ltd., based in Phong Nha commune, is the exclusive operator of cave and primeval forest exploration tours in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a World Natural Heritage site, and surrounding areas. These include newly launched adventure tours such as conquering Do Quyen Waterfall (the highest waterfall in Southeast Asia) and Kong Sinkhole – one of the deepest sinkholes on the planet.

In 2025, tourist routes and destinations within the National Park welcomed and served over 874,400 visitors; of which domestic visitors accounted for over 707,300 and international visitors over 167,150. Furthermore, Phong Nha-Ke Bang will attract luxury hotel and resort groups and tour operators from around the world. Currently, Quang Tri province is submitting a nomination dossier for the Phong Nha-Ke Bang World Biosphere Reserve to UNESCO. If this title is recognized, it will be one of the important contributions to consolidating and strengthening Phong Nha-Ke Bang's international standing, creating new impetus to promote economic growth and sustainable development of Quang Tri province.
According to Pham Hong Thai, Director of the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park Management Board, in implementing the resolution of the 1st Congress of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, which identifies tourism as one of the four pillars of socio-economic development, and the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park Ecotourism, Resort, and Entertainment Project for the period 2021-2030, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park will strive to achieve an annual tourist arrival growth of 10% or more; a revenue increase of 10%-15%; develop 1-2 new tourism products/routes; and continue on the path of sustainable tourism development, strictly preserving the core values of the heritage with the goal of not only transforming Phong Nha-Ke Bang into an adventure tourism center of Asia, but also a model of green tourism development, harmonizing people and nature…
