The Border Guard Command awarded 50 million VND to the Tay Ninh Provincial Border Guard, the Southern Drug and Crime Prevention Task Force and the Tay Ninh Provincial Police. The Tay Ninh Provincial Border Guard also awarded Certificates of Merit to 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in the above 18kg seizure.

Major General Tran Ngoc Huu, Deputy Commander of the Border Guard, said: Previously, at 6:50 p.m. on June 15, in the trail area, about 100 meters from the Vietnam - Cambodia border in Ben Cau hamlet, Bien Gioi commune, Chau Thanh district, Tay Ninh province (now Ben Cau hamlet, Hoa Hoi commune, Tay Ninh province), the working group of the Vam Trang Trau Border Guard Station (Tay Ninh Provincial Border Guard) chaired and coordinated with the Southern Drug and Crime Prevention Task Force (Border Guard) and Tay Ninh Provincial Police to detect 2 suspicious subjects coming from the direction of the Cambodian border into Vietnam.
Seeing the authorities, both subjects took advantage of the night to flee to the other side of the border. At the scene, the authorities inspected and discovered and seized a total weight of about 18kg identified as 9999 gold (total value of more than 51 billion VND) and a motorbike.
