The two individuals who were commended and unexpectedly awarded certificates of merit by the Lam Dong Provincial Military Command were Mr. Do Thanh Dung (52 years old) and Mr. Vu Chi Lam (41 years old), both residing in Dinh Trang Thuong commune, Lam Dong province.

Lam Dong: Rescuing three people trapped in the middle of a hydroelectric lake when the water rises and flows rapidly

As reported by Nhan Dan Newspaper, on July 16, after many hours of heavy rain in the Dong Nai 2 hydroelectric lake area, Dinh Trang Thuong commune, the water suddenly rose and flowed rapidly. At that time, 5 people in a family were playing on a small island in the middle of Dong Nai 2 hydroelectric lake , two people were able to move to shore safely, three people were trapped.
Upon receiving the news, the Dinh Trang Thuong commune authorities quickly notified the Dong Nai 2 hydropower plant to temporarily stop releasing water; at the same time, mobilized officers and soldiers from the commune police, the commune military command, the security and order team of village 2 and people to use boats, life jackets and equipment to quickly approach the scene to deploy measures to rescue the trapped people.
As people familiar with the area, who know how to swim and row a boat well, Mr. Dung and Mr. Lam, along with the authorities, directly participated in rescuing the victims. The two men volunteered to rescue. Mr. Dung and Mr. Lam worked together to row the boat through the fast-flowing water, approached the three trapped people and brought them safely to shore.
