QNgTV- Business ethics has long been considered a core value, because business is not only about buying and selling, profit and loss, but also about responsibility, reputation and the heart of the person doing the job. However, recently, a series of shocking incidents have made public opinion restless and ask the question: Where is business ethics, when fake, counterfeit and poor quality goods still openly appear on the market with increasingly sophisticated tricks?

In April 2025, authorities dismantled a production line of nearly 600 types of fake milk powder, illegally profiting nearly 500 billion VND. Notably, among these fake products were milk for people with diabetes, kidney failure, premature babies, and pregnant women.
At the same time, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police announced that the Economic Police Department had dismantled a large-scale fake pharmaceutical production and trading ring nationwide, arresting 14 subjects for the crime of "producing and trading in counterfeit disease prevention and treatment drugs".

In Da Nang , the Economic Police Department also dismantled a fake bird's nest production line with the real bird's nest content in each product being less than 1%, shocking public opinion.
In fact, there are many other cases of counterfeit goods that have shocked consumers, the most recent of which is the “Mailisa” case, once again sounding the alarm about the widespread counterfeit goods situation, threatening the health and trust of consumers.
The arrest of the couple who own the Mailisa beauty salon chain, considered one of the largest beauty systems in the country, is just a small slice of that worrying picture. Hundreds of thousands of customers have been deceived by smuggled cosmetics, a large-scale business system that disregards the law and ethics, taking advantage of the trust of consumers. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Counterfeit goods are everywhere, from flea markets, grocery stores, shops, and even e-commerce platforms. A carton of milk that is thought to be from a reputable brand turns out to be a “fake” product that is so sophisticated that it is difficult to distinguish. A blister pack of medicine bought at a familiar pharmacy is actually of unknown origin. A bottle of cosmetics labeled as “genuine” is actually a smuggled product, even potentially harmful to the health of the user.
Consumers become unwilling victims in a “maze” of goods full of traps. And the most dangerous thing is that they have no way of knowing for sure whether the product they buy is really genuine or not.
Not only causing economic damage, counterfeit goods are directly threatening human health and life. From medicine, functional foods, cosmetics, to electronics, auto parts, motorbikes… any item that can be counterfeited has a network behind it.
In Quang Ngai , every year the Market Management force discovers and handles dozens of cases of trading in counterfeit, fake, and unknown origin goods. Household appliances, cosmetics, electronics, motorcycle spare parts, medicines, etc. are all available. If these products are released into the market, the consequences will be unpredictable.
So why do counterfeits still exist and even become more sophisticated? It is because the profits are too great. Counterfeiting a box of powdered milk costs less than 100,000 VND but is sold for 5 or 6 times more. A bottle of cheap cosmetics, when labeled as “imported goods”, can be sold for 10 times more. Huge profits have caused many people to disregard the law, ethics, and the health of consumers.
But the fault lies not only with the counterfeiters. The laxity in management and inspection is not really regular; the convenience and cheapness of a part of the people; the uncontrolled online shopping process; even some businesses unintentionally help counterfeit goods penetrate the market. All of these factors have created an environment for counterfeit goods to "flourish" strongly as it is today.
