One morning in early 2026, amidst the winter-spring rice fields in their crucial growth stage, Nguyen Minh Trang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Giong Rieng commune, stopped at the 67 Agricultural Cooperative to discuss with cooperative members and farmers about the production progress, input costs, and output of the winter-spring rice crop.
The 67 Farmers' Agricultural Cooperative currently has 99 members, cultivating 117 hectares of high-quality rice varieties such as Dai Thom 8 and ST25, playing a core role in organizing local rice production. At the rice fields, the Cooperative Director, Nguyen Van Tham, reported on the situation of production and consumption linkages, and the difficulties arising from rising input costs and fluctuating market prices. Mr. Nguyen Minh Trang affirmed: “By closely monitoring the situation at the grassroots level, directly listening to the cooperatives and farmers report on production, difficulties in linking agricultural product consumption and production, we will promptly direct solutions. The locality continues to identify cooperatives as the central link, strengthening connections with consuming businesses, and organizing production along the value chain to reduce market risks.”
The rural market in Long Thanh commune is held on weekends and during the peak Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday. Mr. Huynh Van Thai Quynh, Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, directly discusses with traders about the sales situation, income, and the possibility of maintaining the rural market as a stable consumption channel for local products. With 54 participating households, the stalls sell a variety of agricultural products, handicrafts, and rural specialties, bringing in an average income of 500,000 - 600,000 VND per day per household.
Leaving the local market, Mr. Quynh visited the Tet flower garden of Mr. Dao Canh Bich, residing in Duong Xuong hamlet, who has been involved in Tet flower cultivation for over 15 years. This year, he planted about 5,000 pots of chrysanthemums and marigolds, which are purchased directly by traders, generating an income of approximately 100 million VND per year. Mr. Quynh's final stop was Doctor Farm, a farm that recreates rural scenery through experiential activities such as visiting old houses, lantern streets, vineyards, farm forests, and homestay accommodations. Mr. Huynh Thanh Hung, the farm manager, said that for the Spring Festival of the Year of the Horse 2026, the tourist area will be further decorated with flowers, creating an attractive destination for local people and contributing to socio -economic development.
Chairman of Long Thanh Commune People's Committee Huynh Van Thai Quynh said: "Visiting the grassroots level is to understand the reality on the ground, thereby guiding people to produce according to market demand, promoting effective models, promptly resolving difficulties, and creating conditions for people to confidently develop their livelihoods."
From Giồng Riềng to Long Thạnh, the year-end field trips by commune leaders clearly demonstrate that policies are not limited to summaries but are reviewed, adjusted, and concretized right from the fields, gardens, rural markets, and individual livelihood models. This closeness to the people and hands-on approach contributes to building people's trust in the government, creating a foundation for the entire province to enter the new year with greater consensus and determination for higher development.
