When fashion is created with a personal artistic language on the catwalk

On the opening night of Vietnam International Fashion Week, each designer placed their own unique identity in each design to convey meaningful messages and touch the emotions of fashionistas.

The opening night of Vietnam International Fashion Week Fall Winter 2025 - Vietnam International Fashion Week F/W 2025 took place last night (November 12) in Hanoi , leaving a beautiful impression of unique creative thinking in fashion.

On the runway, each "unique identity" was placed in each design by designers Frederick Lee, Ha Linh Thu, and Vu Viet Ha to convey a meaningful, strong, and emotional message.

Shine from origin of life

Taking the opening position, designer Vu Viet Ha introduced the collection “Pure Origin” - where the pure beauty of water is told in the language of contemporary fashion. Inspired by the origin of life, Vu Viet Ha recreated the story with new fashion creations with a modern perspective, sending the message: “Everyone has an original pure version inside them, awaken it and let it shine.”

A gentle yet powerful message that encourages each person to find the purest version within themselves, because from there, their own style, emotions and light will be awakened.

Besides the idea, the material is the central element that creates the soul of the collection, opening with dreamy white silk strips. Under the light as gentle as the morning dew, each silk fold is soft and supple, like the breath of nature. The designs gradually change from light tones to warm blue tones, like the journey of people going through challenges to find new light as the designer's idea. If silk is a symbol of soft origin, hand-knitted wool tells the story of handmade creation - where the spirit of freedom and innovation is clearly depicted. That rustic material is processed by Vu Viet Ha into vivid 3D knitting stitches, evoking the natural flow in the cycle of life. The strong shape and clear structure show the rise of people in the vast nature.

Vedette Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy – Miss International 2024 closed “Pure Origin” with an overwhelming appearance. On a silver mini dress with sparkling sequins, the designer covered the upper body with a 3D sculpture of interwoven white circles, like water bubbles rising above the waves. The structure covering the head and shoulders creates a surreal visual space, both soft and powerful. With every step, Thanh Thuy embodies the message of the collection.

One of the memorable highlights of the opening show was the emotional performance of the talented ST Son Thach with the song "Thuan nuoc do thuyen . " Music and fashion blended together, leading the audience from the primitiveness of the water source to the journey of affirming personal identity and spirit, creating a poetic opening for the show.

The entire performance, from sound to color, from pure white to vibrant blue, was like a cultural story told in the language of fashion, where the audience could both enjoy the physical beauty and feel the spirit and meaning behind each design.

Bold masterpieces

With over two decades of experience in the haute couture industry, Frederick Lee is known as Singapore’s “textile storyteller” – a man who sees fashion as a true art form and considers himself an artist. His creations captivate fashion connoisseurs with their mystical beauty, elaborate construction and exquisite craftsmanship down to the last detail.

Having captivated fashionistas with the colorful festival “Holi” – a fashion party imbued with cultural spirit, this season Frederick Lee came to the Vietnam International Fashion Week Fall Winter 2025 catwalk with a completely different attitude when presenting the Haute Couture collection “Nocturne Éternelle . ”

Frederick Lee’s return is a contemporary symphony, where every cut and fold is artistically intentional. The designs are inspired by the deep black of a crow’s wing, the mesmerizing reflection of a snake’s scales, and the subtlety of each black lace.

Moreover, the way Frederick Lee combined black, blue, silver or charcoal color palettes with reflective effects to recreate the magical space of the night brought a visual experience that was both overwhelming and emotional.

Each design in “Nocturne Éternelle” can be considered a bold masterpiece, where shapes, colors and materials blend to create a symphony of darkness and light. From the mysterious black on the high-quality “sheer mesh” material, to the sophisticated hand-beading technique combined with the deep cobalt blues like the ocean, all shine together in a performance that is very much Frederick Lee’s personal mark.

Under the magical lights, each catwalk step of the models further depicts a "symphony" of charm and power, as if the whole space is moving with the breath of fashion.

Closing the performance, The Face Vietnam 2023 Champion Huynh Tu Anh transformed into the "queen of the night." Frederick Lee specially used sophisticated 3D modeling techniques with details simulating wild thorny tree branches to create a design that was both mysterious and splendid.

Not quite an angel, not quite a devil, Frederick Lee’s “muse” appears as a symbol of the balance between two extremes, where beauty transcends the boundaries of light and time. With a unique design language and creative thinking, Frederick Lee brought a performance full of emotions.

Engaging dialogue on the catwalk

With the characteristic “glam rock” spirit of Ha Linh Thu, the “ Black Parade ” collection is a dialogue between strength and aesthetics, between discipline and freedom. Not bearing the appearance of rigid uniforms, the designs recreate the spirit of the army and historical parades through the lens of contemporary fashion, blending Asian inspiration – where strength is softened by graceful cuts, balanced shapes and delicate velvet and silk materials.

Jet black and army green are chosen as the main colors, symbolizing depth and sustainability, accented with ruby ​​red, pink and frost white like bright spots in the darkness.

Orchid motifs appear throughout the collection, sometimes as 3D hand-embroidered pieces, sometimes as abstract camouflage patterns, creating a symbol that is both soft and strong, symbolizing the feminine beauty hidden behind a strong armor. The designs combine sturdy structured jackets with wavy skirts, wide-leg pants or long flowing dresses, creating an attractive contrast between power and freedom.

Ha Linh Thu shares that each design is completed with sophisticated techniques from hand embroidery, beading to 3D patchwork (patchwork art style), affirming the enduring high-end spirit and respect for craftsmanship - the core value that Ha Linh Thu always pursues.

With “ Black Parade ,” the designer wanted to create a march to honor proud women – those who still stride calmly in the midst of a turbulent world , shining as if in their own parade.

More importantly, what Ha Linh Thu wants to convey is a message about feminism, resilience and a very unique pride. Velvet and silk – two soft materials become weapons, telling the story of a woman who is both gentle and powerful.

“Women are very soft but also strong and brave. They can be female generals who make history, so why can’t silk do the same ,” Ha Linh Thu shared.

“ Black Parade ” closed the opening night of Vietnam International Fashion Week F/W 2025, once again affirming the personal mark with the strong, aesthetic and emotional fashion language of designer Ha Linh Thu.
